My Friends???

Ernie Freeman, I had to laugh every time you said "My Friend" to your
co-workers this morning, I think Val did not get it the first time you called
her that, lol She was like HUH? I lost count on how many time you said "My
Friend" when I had to take kids to school.
Anyways,
What does McCain want to accomplish by calling people "my friends"? I
guess it is a political approach? He must have said it at least 15 times. I AM NOT
YOUR FRIEND! Until I have had many conversations with a him/person(s) . The day I call McCain up to invite him over for dinner, then I
might consider him my friend, same with Obama.
Oh and don't forget that McCain called Obama "That One" while Obama was
polite and called McCain "Senator McCain."
Sorry I had to delete my post on this very same thing, The diagram had words used that I figured Fox would not allow and I could not replace them, but here is the link if you wanna take a look.

Barrack
Obama has released a statement condemning the Tinker approved campaign ad
linking Steve Cohen to the KKK.
"These incendiary and personal attacks
have no place in our politics, and will do nothing to help the good
people of Tennessee. It's time to turn the page on a politics driven by
negativity and division so that we can come together to lift up our
communities and our country," said Barack Obama.
Now that statement is right on with Obama, hats off to him!
Thank you Mr. President??

Should I be jumping up and down since I got my rebate check or not? I know that we all will end up paying this back somehow down the road. But I was floored when I opened it and saw how much it was, with one kid and and I know they also go by which kinda Tax form you filed, Well I must say we must of had one heck of a form. I thought the amount you get back was from $300.00 up to $1,200.00. Well we got back over the $1,200.00. Yeppie for now~~~~~

I've never seen the flag and anthem
presented like this opening an event before. Sure would be hard to top this.
Amazing.
From
the show at Rickenbacker Field, Columbus, Ohio, in September. This was the
opening ceremony each day. The camera guy stayed tight on the flag so the 4
Steer man laying smoke rings around the flag don't appear
much.

So this is the 5th ann. of the war, rather some are for the war and some not, we all need to give a BIG Thanks for all these guys and gals that are risking their life's for us. We have lost around 4,000 or our men and women since this all started and they should all be honored by a moment of silence.

I found an interesting article online regarding those tax rebate
checks the
government is sending out in May. I thought it was just
going to be extra
money the government was giving to stimulate the
economy, I had NO IDEA, it
is simply a loan from my 2009 tax refund!!
Why don't they ever mention
this in the media. I wonder how many other
people know that it is just a
loan, and that you will have to pay it
back in 2009, by having them either
take it out of your refund next
year, or owe them the money if you don't get
a refund. Just a warning,
you may want to hold on to it if that is the
case. Read the article I
found on MSN:

Tax Relief

WASHINGTON —
President Bush on Friday urged that an economic stimulus package worth
nearly $150 billion be passed immediately to head off a nationwide
slump, while expressing confidence that the sagging economy will
rebound.
In a well-received
address, Bush said the package would consist of income tax relief and
tax incentives for businesses, but veered away from specifics. He said
it should be temporary and geared to restore money quickly to the
pockets of consumers, so they can infuse the economy with new dollars
as the housing market slump and other factors put it at risk.
"Passing
a new growth package is our most pressing economic priority," Bush
said. "We can provide a shot in the arm to keep a fundamentally strong
economy healthy ... I’m optimistic about our economic future."
"This growth package must be big enough to make a difference in an economy as large and dynamic as ours," Bush said.
White
House advisers say that, in current terms, 1 percent would amount to
around $145 billion, which is along the lines of what private
economists say should be sufficient to help give the economy a
short-term boost.
Under
a White House plan, rebates of up to $800 for individuals and $1,600
for married couples are being considered as one-time tax rebates.
"There
are no silver bullets," he said, "But ... to give money to consumers,
there's plenty of evidence -- you give money to people they're gonna
spend it."
Bush said the income tax relief would help Americans meet monthly bills and pay for higher gas prices.
So all you Bush Hatters out here, I bet you want be complaining when you see that check in your mail box, and you will have fun spending it as well, so I know I will have some say I make over $84,000.00 So it want to do me any good, or just any other excuse. THIS is if they pass it.
By this time some of you will have heard of the suicide bombing at the Serena
Hotel here in Kabul on Monday night. I’ve had a few phone calls asking if I was
OK and just want to assure you I’m fine.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack. The Serena is the
closest thing to a 5 star hotel here, buttressed by concrete barriers against
car bombs. 4 armed guards with machine guns protect the only entrance, which
has two 12” in diameter solid-steel-levered lift gates and a third wrought iron
entry gate. After your vehicle has been searched for bombs in the trunk and
under the hood, and the under carriage has been checked with mirrors, you can
proceed through to the body search and pass through a metal detector. As I
understand if from the locals, 4 armed men dressed as police men approached the
guards and machine-gunned them down, gained access and opened fire in the hotel.
A 5th man, the suicide bomber, detonated himself. Report is that 12 people were
killed (a US aid worker, Norwegian journalist and 2 other foreigners among
them). I heard the explosion at home, 5 miles away.
As always, after a suicide bombing the “what if?” questions begin to play in
your mind: “What if I wasn’t too tired to go into the city last night for
internet access? I could have been passing the incident as it occurred.” “What
if I had scheduled to meet the deputy mayor of Kabul for dinner last night at
the Serena instead of lunch there today?” (as is still planned) Far better to be
asking the grateful “what ifs?” instead of bemoaning the rueful “If only I had…”
Far better to know that our times are in His hands, and not relegated to the
capricious hands of fate.
It’s cold here in Kabul and more snow is on its way. My house water pipes have
been frozen, but my body’s plumbing is flowing too well. *wink* - Not the
combination you want when you need to flush often. With the shampoo frozen in
the bathroom you can imagine that I have to muster the courage to take a shower
every day, so a brief bucket bath yesterday was welcome.
I’ve had some excellent meetings since returning here and I’m optimistic about
the future prospects. The meeting w/ the deputy mayor today (I’ll have to
change the venue from the Serena Hotel) will address issues related to the
building of the 3000 shelters in Kabul for returnees and internally displaced
persons, as well as the Permanent Housing Project to build mid-rise apartment
complexes. The deputy mayor has the daunting responsibility of over-seeing the
city planning for every aspect of infrastructure here in Kabul. He’s been very
helpful so far and I have a comfortable, cordial relationship with him. He says
I’m more Afghan than American and thinks I’ll live here forever.
I didn’t plan on sending an update so soon, but wanted to let you know I’m
alright. I guess I’m prone to diarrhea of the keyboard too, as this note became
longer than anticipated. Apparently my updates are mirroring another aspect of
my life also driven by “urgency and frequency”. *wink*
Thanks for standing in my corner.

Take care
Bill
