OK---I'll be honest. I really don't like Rap music at all! But, I found this Rap video with a positive life-affirming message and I will share it here with those who would like to view it. Again, I don't like the style, but I do like what the Rapper is saying!

Just for fun. This is the first album (yes, vinyl!) I ever bought--well actually my parents paid for it. It was purchased in 1965 when I was 8 years old and it was the "monophonic" version. I remember getting it a store called "Two Guys" (no longer in business) and it cost (if I remember correctly) $3.28 plus tax! I still enjoy it 40+ years later!
What is the first recording that you ever purchased? Was it on vinyl, 8-track, cassette, or CD? Do you remember where you got it and how much it cost?
I thought this might be fun as a kind of trivia/music blog.

CDB “LIVE FROM IRAQ”
(With Bonus DVD)
Ok...this is a re-post of a previous entry, but I like to promote things that honor our troops overseas. This CD was recorded in Iraq in 2006 in a series of "live" concerts for the troops stationed there. By the way, this CD is available on www.charliedaniels.com, amazon.com, and locally at Spin Street records on Poplar and Highland. Enjoy...and God bless our troops!
January 2006... USA Patriotism! proudly salutes . . . Charlie Daniels' ongoing support of our troops along with his heartfelt patriotic songs like "In America".
Since 1990, the multi-award winning Charlie Daniels and his band have been there for the troops, performing many times each year on various sponsored tours in the states and overseas including in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Charlie Daniels even launched Operation Heartstrings in November 2005 with the goal to put musical instruments and other sources of portable entertainment into the hands of the men and women who serve our country in some of the most desolate parts of the world . . . and to aid in alleviating any feelings of loneliness and isolation.
And there is no better way to describe how the troops feel about Charlie Daniels than as expressed by Major General Gus Hargett, Tennessee's Adjutant General...
"It's amazing to watch Charlie communicate with the troops over here . . . Charlie is a performer that bridges the gap between generations of Americans. Some of these songs were hits before many of these men and women were born, but you see young and old alike, cheering and singing along with every song the band performs . . . No one does that better than Charlie Daniels."
