so lets see,if the memphis city school gig doesn't pan out and it falls through then willie will decide to keep his job as mayor and this stepping down business in july will all be a false alarm? in my honest opinion i think he'll be staying put as mayor.as soon as the school board looks at the reasons he stepped out on his last tenure they'll respectfully says thanks but no thanks leaving him no choice but to stick to the job at hand.

The
Los Angeles Lakers bolstered their banged-up frontline Friday with a key acquisition -- 7-footer
Pau Gasol of the
Memphis Grizzlies.
"It shows a great deal of commitment from the organization," All-Star Kobe Bryant said before the Lakers' game at Toronto. "It's a great step.
"It's a matter of us just gelling now and putting it together," added Bryant, who urged management to improve the team over the summer. "We've got a great bench. We have a lot of length, a lot of versatility. Now it's time to walk the walk."
The Lakers gave up Kwame Brown, rookie Javaris Crittenton and two first-round draft picks for Gasol. The Spaniard is certain to help a Lakers team reeling from recent injuries to inside players, including blossoming center Andrew Bynum.
"We need a little scoring inside without Andrew Bynum," coach Phil Jackson said. "It gives us a post-up threat right now, and he's a good passer. We like that."
Jackson said Gasol could make his debut when the Lakers visit Washington on Sunday.

The Tennessee state legislature may force the state lottery to return to using numbered balls to select winners for the Cash 3 and Cash 4 games.
Legislative leaders have expressed concern about the lottery's switch to computerized drawings, especially after a computer glitch last year.
Sen. Bill Ketron, R-Murfreesboro, and Rep. Jason Mumpower, R-Bristol, the House's minority leader, have filed bills to require the lottery to use numbered balls, not computers, to draw winning numbers.
House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh, D-Covington, and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, back the effort.
"If the balls dropping gives the people a better comfort level that it's being run right, then I think that's where we ought to go," Naifeh said last week. He's not convinced by the lottery's argument that it would cost $5.5 million to return to the pingpong ball drawings. "I don't understand that," Naifeh said.
The lottery's random-number-generating computers malfunctioned last summer, rendering them incapable of drawing repeating digits as winners in the Cash 3 and Cash 4 games. The problem wasn't discovered for several weeks.
Gov. Phil Bredesen told The Tennessean on Friday that he won't resist efforts by the legislature to return to numbered balls for lottery drawings, although he believes public confidence remains high in the computerized system.

the crime rate is rising again throughout america for the first time in a long while.most of these newer crime statistics show young high school age kids are committing a lot of the crimes now like burglary, assault, rape and murder.there are a new breed of young criminal coming along who don't have a conscience,no mercy and prey on the helpless, defenseless, women and elderly alike.why? because if they see a grown man like me they are scared to get their ass whipped so they go looking for people who can't defend themselves.i;m seeing on the news now where the citizens are fighting back and getting these idiots before they can strike.too much time on hands, laziness, gangbanging and general stupidity seems to be some of the reasons these heathens commit these crimes.maybe being locked up awhile will change their outlook.

1. Memphis, Tenn.: 34%
Researchers have found that residents are aware of the area's obesity problem, currently affecting 34% of its population. Among the causes they blame: high rates of poverty and a culture of Southern hospitality and food that values certain types of dishes--many of them fried--over healthier choices. Memphis actually sits on the western edge of a web of Southern cities along with Birmingham, Ala., and Atlanta, that also landed on our list.

MIAMI -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor has died, a day after he was shot in the leg, said family friend Richard Sharpstein. He said Taylor's father called him around 5:30 a.m. to tell him the news. "His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer. "It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans." He said he did not know exactly when Taylor died. Doctors had been encouraged late Monday night when Taylor squeezed a nurse's hand. But Sharpstein said he was told Taylor never regained consciousness after being transported to the hospital and that he wasn't sure how he had squeezed the nurse's hand. "Maybe he was trying to say goodbye or something," Sharpstein said. The 24-year-old Redskins safety was shot early Monday in his home in the upper leg, damaging an artery and causing significant blood loss. Miami-Dade Police were investigating the attack, which came just eight days after an intruder was reported at Taylor's home. Officers were dispatched about 1:45 a.m. Monday after Taylor's girlfriend called 911. Taylor was airlifted to the hospital. Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house at the time, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend were injured. "It could have been a possible burglary; it could have been a possible robbery," Miami-Dade Police Lt. Nancy Perez said. "It has not been confirmed as yet." Taylor was shot at the pale yellow house he bought two years ago in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay. Taylor played at the University of Miami, where he was an All-American in 2003, and was also a high school standout in the city. His father, Pedro Taylor, is the police chief of Florida City.

well well well....
the politicians have found themselves a new cash cow.i predicted this way back in 1996 and all my friends laughed at me like i was crazy.it eventually did happen in germantown and collierville.well the good folks here in memphis might be getting those pesky cameras here which if your caught speeding you'll be mailed a traffic fine.these cameras will cause more wrecks.you ask how? well when people notice the light going yellow or red they will slam on their brakes to keep from going through the light and that will cause more problems.i bet they are just licking their chops now in anticipation of all that revenue.....
