History has been made! Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, Americans, regardless of race, creed or color should be proud of America. Just a scant 144 years ago, Barak Obama would not even have had the opportunity of citizenship, nor the right to vote, own property or freely pursue happiness. Why? Because in all likelihood he would have been a slave in 1864. In 1865 slavery was abolished and the long journey of equal rights ensued. I am not attempting to give a historical snap shot of the African American struggle for equality, but I am excited about the opportunity for my children to see this incredible event take place.

If only my dad, who passed away in 2001 at the age of 76, could have witnessed this. It would have meant so much to him. However, there are others, still alive that it means just as much to. Moreover, we all should pray that some sociopath won't make an attempt on his life. I saw some video where some people were discussing the subject of physically eliminating him from the race for the presidency. Even with that, I still say, it is a great day for America.

Given the fact that gas prices are at an all-time high; the murder rate is escalating exponentially; our school system is in turmoil and our city officials are falling faster than the stock market, it is still a great day in America. Whether Barak Obama wins the election or not pales in comparison to him having the distinct opportunity to be President of the United States of America. This entire race between Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton, to represent the Democrat Party in the presidential election has energized Americans as never before. In a cauldron of catastrophe, an oasis of sanity still prevails. We have come a long way, but we have so much farther to go. We cannot rest on the laurels of this great accomplishment. We must press on toward the stratospheric heights of morality and success.

But this one, is worthy of nostalgic notoriety. Forty Five years after The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his historic, "I Have A Dream", speech, August 28, 1963; On August 28, 2008, Barak Obama will accept the nomination for the presidency of the United States for the Democrat Party. As my mother would say, “There must be a God somewhere”.

I wonder if McCain will pick Condoleeza Rice as a runningmate and one up the legitimacy of this season. Either way it would be a great day.

I know if Condoleeza gets in on the vice, people won't bat an eye about a president that is of color, even if it isn't Barak. I hope it's Rice, she is more powerful than Barak and can get more done the right way for all of us, regardles of color and she doesn't have to pretend to be a creep for a minute to do it. I bet she would get President in a landslide after that. I don't ever want to see "president pimp" or "president king" up there makin excuses and being a stereotype of a fool making us all look stupid, we need to get in on the good foot and keep the bar high. No halfsteppin!

Much as I too would love to see Ms Rice be VP, she has already said she's not interested. I pray everyday that Barak is defeated. He will bring nothing but high taxes, high unemployment and bigger government. Basically he is running for Jimmy Carter's 2nd term.

I will not be voting for Obama, but I will say that win or lose I hope that his success will be a stepping stone for all of America to begin to come together.

FlyMarines actually, I have not decided for whom I will vote. I need more information regarding their voting record, social and environmental stances and personal character. After prayer and a careful examination of both candidates, I will make my decision. I am not loyal to a particular party, however I am loyal to God and my country.

I hope he has the right idea but I haven't heard a workable idea come out of him, just populist propaganda typical of both parties. His promises seem large but shallow in understanding. Could be a bad advisor.
I remember Carter, glutted congress, soft housing markets, and 18% and up on real estate loans! THE ENERGY CRISIS! No more of that.

Bubbah doesn't that sound familiar. Isn't that what's happening now and more! Whoever wins, there is a rather simple solution; do the opposite of what the current administration is doing. That's the problem with political jokes; sometime they get elected.

No, it's not. You couldn't even GET gas if you ate a bad meal back then, all the pumps went dry, unemployment was off the charts too, nuclear waste was being dumped in people's backyards without their permission, Iran hostage crisis! That is why he wants to talk to Iran, he thinks he could get the hostages out now. Too late, that guy Carter is trapped by his own inability to let go of the shame of his failure.
Anyway, times are MUCH better now, I remember how scared all Americans were back then. I had an Iraqi exchange student living in my house then. He was waiting on a moment to go rabid on America too. We made him go back to Iraq. The weather was hot then too. I remember 125 degree days.

Just because the media says something is true, doesn't mean it is. Look at your own life. Everybody's retirement accounts tanked in 2001 when Clinton was president, taht hasn't happened since, embassies were bombed wholesale in previous administrations, that hasn't happened since.
How has your bank savings done so far?
Are savings interest rates going up?
How about the rate on your mortgage, is it 7% or is it at 4%?
It used to be MUCH higher, locking many out of cheap houses and ownership, guess who those people were under democratic presidents.
We knew this crisis was coming at the end of Bush 1's administration, how come we didn't prepare during Clinton for electric vehicles which were mandated but, stalled off twice by Clinton?
Why didn't cities prepare for this with wind and solar tech?
They had been overcharging us by billions and never invested in the future.
Do they think or know we don't have one?
It was Clinton, not Bush, who OK'd the pollution in the air that Al Gore says is causing hot temps.
Bad policies and weak army spawned by Clinton's mandates caused ill will for America around the world and they took action.
I hope Obama gets a real advisor and starts talking something of substance and not more populist BS.
This country could go down the tubes. Are you prepared to put your head on the ground and your butt in the air for someone else's version of the Lord?
I'm not.
