I am sorry if I seem a bit presumptuous, but I think it’s time for Senator Obama to begin covertly considering a capable running mate for Vice President. There are several potentially strong contenders for that position, such as Governor Bill Richardson and Senator Joe Biden, but they all pale in comparison to former North Carolina Senator John Edwards. Edwards has the advantage of being known for his anti-poverty issues and does not have the stigma of racial dissention that has grown between many black voters and the Clintons. He appeals to the white-male demographic, a weak sector for Obama, through his blue-collar, working class roots and his rags-to-riches story.

Senator Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, is also a plus. Elizabeth Edwards is well-liked, seen as a fighter (she is battling cancer), and would go a long way in securing the middle-aged female vote, which is the nation's largest voting bloc.

There is some sentiment regarding an Obama-Clinton ticket, however there have been too many accusations, too much negativity, and there is entirely too much fence mending to do for that ticket to be successful. The Democratic party needs unity, not division; it needs healing and not hindrances. If the Democrats are to win this presidential election, it’s best chance to do so will be an Obama-Edwards ticket. Let me know what you think.

Let me get this straight Pastor. You believe that Senator Edwards would make a great running mate? Isn't he the one who the media lambasted for primping himself in the mirror and making sure his hair was together. What do you think happened to Kerry? I'm a repiblican and I hope whoever wins the nomination picks Edwards, that would mean that McCain is a shoe-in. What happened to your people's love for the Clintons? All during Bill's presidency you people called him the first BLACK president, now you can't stand him or his wife? Everyone knows that obama can't carry the black vote. Wait a minute, what black vote?!!! You people don't vote! How can talk about politics to people who have never been in a voting booth? In the words of a downtown panhandler," you wasin' yo time brutha"!

Dogbite88 those were some of the most racially insensitive comments I have ever read. You began your comments opinionated, but quite lucid. However, near the end, you morphed into a raving, misanthrope. I am appalled that any person, with any semblance of intelligence, would think in such an primitive way. God help you.

Sir, are you judging me by my comments? Let's talk truth. You people don't help yourselves. You're always looking for us to help you. All of your being came from us. They way you talk, the way you dress, the way you walk. All of your being comes from my people. Your day to day lives belong to us. The laws you abide by came from my house. What's considered moral or immoral came from me. The fact that you wear shoes is in direct contradiction to what you used to do. Let's stop the fallacies and tell the truth.

dogbite, you've got to be kidding, right? This is grammar school bait. If you look at the kids today, they frankly follow the African tribal customs with tattoos, jewelry, clothing, music....
Jesus Christ is the common denominator, the Savior of this world and the King of the next. Our words today will be judged by Him.
Pastor Tappan has consistantly had a message of joy which he shares. Your comments to him were way out of line.
I happen to totally disagree with him on this as I am not a democrat and do not think Obama would make a good president and definitely think either Edwards or Kerry would not make good vice-presidents.
But I totally agree that fdtappan is a righteous man and is due great respect.

Who is not respecting tappan? My comments are factual. I noticed that your examples of tribal customs are purely exterior things which frankly continue to get these people into trouble. They fight over clothing, they kill for jewelry, they play copycat when it comes to tattoos and basketball, and they shot each other over music (just look at Hamilton High School). There is no disrespect here, only the truth.

Irishoaks thank you. Dogbite88 obviously has an ulterior agenda from the rest of us. His frivolous comments are fraught with the underpinnings of ignorance and insensitivity. However, Irish I am not endorsing Obama as a candidate, I am simply giving my opinion regarding one democratic candidate. In the past, I have voted Republican, as well as Democrat. But, with consistency, I always vote for the candidate I feel that best represents my interests and morals. Whether the candidate is Republican or Democrat female or male, White or Black are not determining factors. Although I will say, ideologically, many of my core beliefs ally with the Republican Party.

Obviously do mine Pastor, especially with the stance on life at conception and sexual purity. dogbite, you are correct about the examples being exterior things and the battles that have occurred over the "things". However it did seem that you were attacking the pastor personally as opposed to a stance. Please be passionate in your opinion of things and ideas, but save your venom when it comes to people.

Open your eyes iris. You can't have a valid opinion about a subject unless you attribute all of the deciding facts as it relates to the subject. Hiding behind feelings will never solve your self inflicted problems. If I have lied about anything then correct me, otherwise if you're going to wear your heart on your sleeve, then go sleevless!

that's a neat saying about going sleeveless. hmmm. will chew on that one. didn't say you lied. I love to go at it about an idea and exchange of views. I really can stretch and grow and learn. I still may not agree when it is all said and done, but wow, what a ride. Sometimes, I learn more facts during the process. If it does not change my values of my Lord, I have been known to even change my mind from time to time. Even my little boy can talk to me on that line. But, unfortunately for me, my heart is out there and gets filled up and often is a big target. That's ok, too. God heals me. You see, none of this is really about me. It is about Him and His Word and what is right by Him. If I can step in to say it looks as if someone is doing thus and such....then I will. If I get pounced, then I do.
But we are so blessed and live in a country that allows for freedom of speech. All can express on avenues such as this. Wonderful.

I'm waiting on Condoleeza Rice, first woman and of color president of the United States. She'd have my vote over Barak or Hillary anyday. I'd take her as VP too.
I want CONDY!
