I would like to direct every one to Chris35tn’s blog, titled Are You Kidding Pot! As you will see, several bloggers respond to Crony, but as you will also see there are no comments by Crony. Wuzzup? Crony is not a figment, and the other bloggers are not hallucinating. Chris35tn erased them.

Erasing is lame and intellectually dishonest?

The blogger wants to speak in public, but evidently he don’t like to be contradicted. When you get around him make sure you agree, and don’t show dissent. Or you will be left wondering where your brilliance went.

The headline in his original post is emphatic, punctuated with exclamation marks and declarative statements. That led me to believe that he was passionate about the subject, and was up for real exchange and spirited debate. But as you breeze through his blog and notice that my comments are not there, I want y’all to come to the same conclusion that I have, that some people are fake. They don’t wanna talk, they want one way conversations.

Erase my comments. He may as well erase them all, as now, the thread that is left is incoherent and dishonest. I responded to prompts that deserved a response, I commented all throughout. With an alternative viewpoint, I held his topic up. He removed my essence from his conversation, now all he has is a husk. Nobody’s comments are in context, and the integrity of his blog is compromised. In it’s original exchange, the topic had educative value and honesty. Now it’s just his drivel. Go visit the ruins.

Go on over there and read what not to do with your blog. I was shocked not to see my comments on his blog as I was not rude to him or any other blogger. I wasn’t off topic. Nor was I patronizing. The blogger was expressing his opinion, and I was expressing mine. Without venom, bitterness, or anger. I wasn’t trying to persuade him to my position or debate him. I thought we were having a public conversation. I was even citing sources and providing links for those of you who were interested in the topic, he raised, so that you could see the other side for yourself.

The point of the back & forth is to enlarge the debate, A & B keep the floor open until someone else -C- jumps in with their observations.

Go check his blog.. He was spitting some tired tripe I had heard before. But since he was saying it publicly, I took it as the opportunity to address the arguments. Respectfully. Politely. Point by point. That coward erased the rebuttal. He didn’t want y’all to see how intellectually sloppy his arguments were. I picked him apart. So he erased my jewels, which were for your benefit.

I don’t know why he erased my posts. For the most part I was in agreement with him. But some of "facts" he was spitting were nonsense. Being a professional researcher, I wanted him to at least qualify some of it, because he was offering his opinion on a serious subject, as stated fact. We are all free to believe what we must. But some of the stuff he was kickin’ was outright irresponsible speech. Have a laugh. Go read it.

But I must warn you that because my comments are not there to freshen up his space, your reading experience will be choppy and somewhat diminished.

All I can say to people who want to write online essays is disable the comments. Learn blogger etiquette. And read Who Let The Blogs Out by Biz Stone.

Keep it real. And when you don’t want others to have an opinion about your thoughts. Keep quiet.

Yea, not a new problem. I have also blogged about this very thing. It is almost communistic - follow and agree with the posters thought or be gagged...

Crony, I have had this problem and blogged about it also, others have erased my comments too. Some have called me names, and in return they got called names back. Some are just ignorant on this site, so I choose to over look them. Some post under several different names, pay attention, you'll see.

Crony, I just went to took a look at that blog, yes your comments are gone, I commented 1 time on it, but I was doing it in a joking way. I am suprised I did not get a preaching from what I said.

MsKayTenn is RIGHT about many being under different names!!!! It is to obvious., Funny thing is I play their game, as acting like I have no clue to who they really are. DUH! PEOPLE!!!

Crony, I read Chris35tn's blog, and I found it funny in a way that he would leave himself open to show his ignorance. The very essence of his blog comments on his post were killed when he deleted your comments. Now I am of the opinion that deleting comments is a choice, one which I choose not to do, unless I am vandalized. This blog is a great intellectual tool for those that really understand how to use it. I can say that your appearance along with other like minded individuals has fueled a fire in me that will only grow to a greater degree. I appreciate your intellect, and in sight on issues,or just conversation.

@Chris35tn, man what were you thinking, or were you?

Morpheyous: I agree with deleting comments being a choice. But like you say, the comment should be way off base, rude, off topic, vandalism, inappropriate, before the option to delete is exercised. I am a sincere blogger who respects this form, so I stayed in bounds. Even though I was not 100% for his viewpoint, I did insure that my comments added to the conversation.

Ginalowe: it was your comment that prompted me to add my two cents in the first place. I loved your (real or fake) enthusiasm. It was funny to me. But the essence of your comment was my sincere feeling. You lead, I followed. he probably didn't delete you, because you didn't undermine his "airtight arguments" with counterstatements.

Mskaytenn: it sucks doesn't it? I respect this form and it's potential as a community forum. I also respect people's right to be different. I neither want nor expect everyone to agree with me. there are alot of blogs that I didn't comment on, and are old & expired. But I go read what people were doing and saying way back when. Eventhough the comments may be old, in the really good ones, the exchange is fresh, and for me the dicussion is informative. The blogs are (or can be) great transcripts & historical documents. But when you gut them and manicure them, like dude did. it's a disrespect for the forum and to people who come by and make sincere comments. I agree with kicking people off your blog if they are rude, vandals, and off topic. Other than that. let what they say ride.

@TomG:
Communism is a greta metaphor for what this is. It reminds me of those doctored photographs of the Russian Revolution. In the real pictures Leo Trotsky is omnipresent, standing right next to Lenin. But when the regime turned against him, he disappeared from the photos. So in our history books in America, Trotsky is there. But generations of Russian kids grew up reading history books with Trotsky airbrushed out.

This also reminds me of the scene in George Orwell's Animal Farm, where the pigs erased the rules off the bulletin board whenever it was convenient of them to not see what was already written and accepted.

I guess everyman is a dictator in the blogosphere. Enjoy your veto power.

Crony, yes it does suck. If you go back and read a few of my blogs, you will see where people "tried" to jump all over me, because they say I think I know everything. I have my opnion, which I stand by, and others have theirs, I will not delete a comment unless is very, very disresepctful, I have been called names on some blogs, but I will continue to blog, I guess it's the Taurus (zodiac) in me..LOL. So I say blog on, my brother!!

Crony - I don't recall you saying anything on that blog that could be interpretated as rude, etc. As did you, I thought it was just a "conversation!"

It is spiral of shame when you delete someone opinion I don't. Regardless. I later read them for my own growth. There are others in this blog that does the same thing including political leaders. GROW UP!

@SianSkye: Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I didn't think I was rude either. In fact, I know I wasn't. generally, I try to be on point, or humorous. And when I disagree, I attempt to be respectful and employ the same rules I would in a face to face conversation. I'm not into being cruel to people, real or virtual. It's easy to "shoot off" on the web, Over IM, or over email because the person is not standing face to face with you. There seems to be different rules online, where it's alright to be rude because of the safety (cowardice) of anonymity. Some play it like that, but I never do. Never will

@The_Okay_Pro_Se:
I am making an acronym from your handle, for evermore, for brevity's sake, I am calling you TOPS.
But yeah. I agree with you too. The deal is to grow up. I get that some blogs & bloggers use the medium like it's a bar room brawl. I am not here to cut people. I'm here to speak & learn from other speakers. I have an idea of the blogosphere, at least this space of being more like a coffeeshop. A place where big ideas (& small ones too) can be discussed with civility & respect. When I want to get belligerent & potty mouthed, I hop on a CB & talk to truckers.

Plain and simple, crony, obviously chris doesn't like to be proven wrong. In my book, that is both lame and cowardly. You know the saying I like to use about too hot and the kitchen, well, chris stop cooking and get out!!

Crony capitalism is a pejorative term describing an allegedly capitalist economy in which success in business depends on an extremely close relationship between the businessman and the state institutions of politics and government, rather than on free market competition, and economic liberalism. It may be exhibited by favoritism in the distribution of legal permits, government grants, special tax breaks, and so forth. Crony capitalism is believed to arise when political cronyism spills over into the world of business, and the relationships between powerful businessmen and powerful politicians form a kind of aristocratic social hierarchy, influenced by self-serving friendships and family ties, to the extent that it corrupts public-serving political and economic ideals.
