I am a Blogger based out of St. Louis. I am posting this question on different Blogs in about 19 States so as to Gauge if indeed it is time again for the People to Form a Continental Congress.
The Government is Growing at an enormous rate, much larger than the Founding Fathers ever intended. Individual Liberties and Freedoms have been under repeated attacks from the very Government sworn to protect them. The politicians in Office appear to only take turns playing "King" in the White House while Ignoring the Outcries of their Bosses, we Citizens.
Is it time to Elect Delegations from the States to Discuss how to Return this Great Country to the Path of the Constitution?
So that this Great Nation of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Emily's list is a strong endorsement for a person running for office in Memphis. This endorsement was awarded to Nikki Tinker. Steve Cohen is upset and has use the ignorance of Wendi Thomas ( another person who can 't cut it anywhere else) to try to degrade Nikki
Okay, now if these same people would have endorse Cohen then he would have been proud to say it in his ads, yet, this is the first time Emily's List has endorse a candidate instead of the person in office.
Steve Cohen is treating this by using ignorant people to say that it is wrong for a Black person to be successful. for a Black woman to be 37 years old and the VP in the legal department of a Major Airline, how many Black woman can we name in Memphis?
It is sad that when a Black person is running for Office and the Media dig up dirt saying they have bad credit, late on their bills, and been the bankruptcy court that it is standard for a person. Instead, Cohen is using her intelligence, and upstanding in the community to play into the minds of Blacks.
Wendi and Thaddeus we are smarter than that, we are not buying into that. You down grade your own race. that is because Wendi could not cut it in another state and her friend is just a fat hot air. Neither one can not be trusted.
We need to expect higher standards,,,,,, it is time for a change. It's Tinker Time!
Update: I sent Wendi an long overdue email telling her that she could not cut it in another city and had to crawl back her. It must have ticked her off because I also added that she was jealous because Nikki is beautiful and have a drive other than just being at one spot. her reply was:
Wow – with supporters like you,
Nikki will certainly go far. (This would be an example of sarcasm.)
Your grammar leaves a bit to be desired,
your facts are woefully incorrect (as to Steve’s time in office and why I
decided to return to Memphis)
– but I appreciate your passion. It’s misdirected and tinged with
bitterness, but at least you’re involved in the political process.
Best,
One thing I can say, as along as people buy newspapers she would have a job

President Gabe
We have been feverously raising funds for our Presidential candidate Gabe Newman. Gabe has committed himself to foregoing federal election funds and raising money from the common man. Unfortunately the only fundraising skill Gabe has is an assorted collection of bar tricks and he is raising funds a dollar at a time.
Although our big fundraiser of auctioning off a Pong a Long Beer pong table did bring out some ardent supporters it still is not enough to air our first commercial. Thus we must increase our base of supporters, to do this we are opening campaign offices. Actually they are already open as we don't have money for office space, deposits for lights and phones, and staff is far beyond our reach we have designated a series of bars as our official campaign headquarters.
Gabe's office
Our national campaign headquarters is located at Allgood Lounge (www.allgoodlounge.com) in Athens, Ga. It is Gabe's favorite place as drunken girls, tiki bars, and leather furniture have a certain appeal to Gabe but everyone has their peccadillo. Stop in for a drink and talk policy with Gabe in his executive suite with its rich leather chairs. Sorry we could not splurge on the Corinthian leather. Gabe has an open door policy; he also has an open bottle policy, if you bring him an open bottle of beer he will talk to you
Gabe has already opened a second campaign office serving Memphis, TN at the downtown location of The Flying Saucer. It is a great location for his staff to share his vision for the future of the country or shoot pool and talk to the Beer Goddesses.
Campaign Staff at work
To be of better service to our supporter's office hours are from 5p to closing time. Nothing greases the wheels of democracy like a few beers at happy hour. I bet the cold war would have been avoided if everyone had just had a few drinks and talked about those damn missiles in Cuba. We are of course looking to open other campaign offices so if you have a favorite watering hole and are willing to be our onsite staff just let us know and we will send you are official Gabe Newman Campaign Headquarters Certificate for you to present to your favorite bar.
They just might give you a free beer for helping them receive this great honor. Plus your mom will be proud as we let all the newspapers and media in your town know that you have been named campaign chair for the Gabe's campaign in your community. So be part of the solution this election season, and if you can't do that at least have an excuse when the next president totally BLEEPs everything up even worse. Being intoxicated may not be an excuse in the eyes of the law but it is when it comes to who you voted for in the election.
Nominate your favorite bar, be named chairman of a political campaign, and see your name in print in the local paper. It is the all American ideal. You will be popular, wield power, and may have influence over the fate of the world. Ok, none of that may happen but it is sure to be a great bar story and may get people to buy you a drink. Send us your nominations for your local headquarters to streetpeople_at_gmail_dot_com. Give us plenty of info about your bar does it have a website, a drink special, and most of all where is it located.
Buy & Wear
Of course opening all these offices does require cash so tell your friends to donate we have to buy beer of they will kick us out. We like to refer to it as liquid rent. If you don't have any friends then you can give us a dollar and we will be your friends. So buy a t-shirt, donate a dollar or two through paypal, and send us your nominations so your favorite bar can be an official Gabe Newman for President Campaign Headquarters

The Mayor of Oakland is indeed violating the ordinance in question that was also put in place to help cut down the number of yard sale signs, subdivision signs, etc. As a resident who was present when this ordinance was passed, to date none of the signs that violate this ordinance have ever been removed nor has the violator been informed to remove their signs once an event is over. The city of Oakland code enforcer has removed signs that are related to "non-profit organizations" benefits who have had verbal permission to place said signs have had their signs removed and thrown in the trash without being returned to the organization listed. Yet, the city's own "non-profit organizations" are allowed to post their signs without hesitation. The city also "selects" individuals that it employs to "harass" if they support any other candidate other than the current Mayor. In 1994, when Mayor Mullins first ran for office, he along with other candidates spread vicious, malicious and false statements in regards to other residents running for office. In 2005, with the resignation of two veteran firefighters the Mayor and current aldermen refused to address any concerns that was addressed in resignation letters nor did any of them publically thank these dedicated residents for their years of service to Oakland. Mayor Mullins allows the police department to "turn the other way" when his own children are violating the law and by allowing a resident who is known not to have a driver's license drive for several years. As a resident who was present during a city hall meeting when the Mayor brought up for discussion an ordinance to keep Mentally Retarded - Mentally Handicapped citizens from obtaining a home within the city limits of Oakland because "residents were complaining", he thought it over after he was told he would be reported to the federal government for discrimination. Let it be known that the city of Oakland states that it is "an equal opportunity housing city". This means that anyone can rent or buy a house in Oakland. If the city of Oakland had proceeded with passing any ordinance to reflect discrimination against anyone who is mentally retarded or mentally handicapped they would be in violation of the federal law which protects anyone who is a member of the American With Disabilities Act. The Mayor of Oakland was trying to "select which" people would live in Oakland. As a resident of Oakland who has for over 13 years complained constantly over the speeding in my residental neighborhood to date the Chief of Police and his officers have refused to set up any radar to stop it. But if you live in the Oaklands subdivision where two of the aldermen live, police write tickets constantly. The Hyundai police cars that were purchased in 2007 were to be assigned to neighborhood patrol. To date, there has not been one in my neighborhood. These cars are being seen on Highway 64 writing tickets and patroling. That is misleading the residents of Oakland. As a resident of Oakland for almost 20 years, I have seen the Mayor benefiting from "bullying" his employees that support other candidates. The Mayor has seen going door to door in his city vehicle campaining and putting signs in many of the residents yards. The Mayor has also used city employees to assist him during his campains (which will be caught on video or camera). Mayor Mullins lied to the Wal-Mart Corporation when he stated Oakland had a full-time fire department. Which to date it doesn't. Of course, the residents have voted on how to fund a full-time department since 2000. But it took Wal-Mart coming for it to actually happen. The police department budget is approximately $1 million dollars a year. The annual budget for the all "volunteer" fire department is less than $250,000. The Mayor has refused to have a full-time fire department during the last 16 years because he says that it isn't creating a "profit" for the city. This is the real reason. Yes, it is another election year. A year that all of the promises that have been made in the past become REALITY. A year that a new Mayor and new aldermen be voted in to make it happen. It is a year that the law be enforced on the children of the Mayor. It is a year that those who are knowingly be allowed to drive on our streets be made to stay off of the road. It is also a year that the city board and zoning committee be in compliance with the state laws as they haven't been for several years. It is a year that all neighborhoods start being treated "equally", not only by enforcing the speed limits but providing a safe park for all to enjoy in each neighborhood. It is time to quit spending money on Cypress Park (over $80,000 was spent prior to the grant) when there isn't any room for parking. Who can attend games when the parking lot is not big enough for more than 30 cars? It is time for changes. It is time for all of the city departments be cleaned out of corruption, favortism and dishonesty. Good bye Mayor Mullins.

For anyone that has a son or daughter or just for themselves.
During the ending of the school year my daughter lost her direction. We had begun to argue and could not agree. I was the mother who was tired of and possible hated. We did not see eye to eye and I was getting tired. She started to hang around people that wanted to hang out with the "so called" new friends. I was worried and the first time in my life, I could not say anything to make things better.
When I started to work with the Tinker for Congress I met a lot of inspiring teens who have achieved all the things that I wanted my daughter to achieve. I was afraid to approach her because with meetings these people because I did not think she would listen. Then God did a wonder, her car transmission gave out! She went to stay with the people she called her friends and told me she didn't need me. I did not say anything because this was something God had to work out and I took my hands off. Within 3 months her pride was broken and the friends faded away. The taxi was not longer there and she was left with me, my sister taking her to work.
God put it in my heart to talk to the teens that were her age to meet her and they were more than happy. I then called my daughter and told her about the teens. She wanted to meet them and she did. Within days the vision that I saw for my daughter wast there. She was around people who wanted something in life and did not want to use her, but just be her friend. She has been to a few Tinker events and the lady that I wanted to raise is coming out.
In all Nikki, her mom, and Nikki's manager has embraced her and is mentoring her to the person that I pray that she would become. We are talking now about her future and she understand her role in becoming an adult. Nikki help me save my child and I know God put her there for a reason.
I boast about Nikki on my site all the time and now I really really know why. What I see in Nikki my daughter sees it too and wakes up every morning going to help out. Nothing was promise but hope and that is what she needed. We really need leaders like her, to give our girls and teens hope that has been lost. Give parents hope to see that a role model don't have to play ball, but go to school and make it when the odds are not in there favor. This is something that we need to remember comes election time
Signed

Oil, Corn, Economic, Weather....all have become a "Crisis" according to the media. But, can you go and buy gas? yup, its expensive, but its plentiful. In the 70's you couldn't even buy it. Thats a crisis!
Corn, its getting more expensive due to flooding, and diverted uses, but its available. Back in the 'dust bowl' years of the 20's, it was not even available. Thats a crisis!
Economic, times are tough thats for sure. But, we have a national employment rate of 95%!!! Its pretty much a given that around 5% of the population is not in the job market for many reasons. Sick, disabled, in school, all of those are considered for working age people that might be looking for a job. The 1929 depression, that was a crisis. We are a VERY long way from that.
Weather, global warming. When have you not known the weather to change? Never. It has been documented by scientists, that just prior to Jesus' birth the climate was much warmer then it is now. It has also been documented that about every 2,000 - 3,000 years in earths history the climate warms and then gets cold. It's not a crisis, its natural.
The whole point is that when someone yells CRISIS, stop and think. Look around, read and investigate. You'll find that many times, its just a matter of perspective, and agenda.
Keep the faith, use the brain God gave you and don't fall for the blaring headlines. The biggest crisis we have in America today is one of FAITH. Faith in God, ourselves and our ancestors.
God Bless you and yours.

Today I watched Mayor Herenton give a press conference that was long over due. It is my belief, every Memphian should have heard or should hear, what he had to say. The contents of his speech is the power of God. Let me explain? Many years ago I told a friend (and some family) that the Mayor and the Fords were the biggest drug dealers in the city (I was drinking and drugging at the time and just talking), but most of them took me serious and a friend took it even farther. This friend took what I said as the gospel went undercover with police agencies to entrap me and couldn't. So, she did the next best thing to survive her foolishness, she made them think Mayor Herenton and the Fords were drug dealers. Why did the FBI fall for such a lie? Because both the Mayor and the Fords had members of their families associating with drug dealers at that time. God showed me the out come of this act (lie) that I told and the purpose for the lie (act). Everything is the will of God no matter what man may think. When we think we are controlling something, whatever it may be, we are only doing what God knew we would do, before we thought about doing it.
Back to the Mayor. The Mayor has been in office for so long that he lost sight of his calling and his faith became misguided. As a person on drugs are frighten into quiting after hitting rock-bottom. The Lord frighten the Mayor into speaking the truth today after causing him to be attacked from all directions. Lets watch the Mayor, listen to the Mayor, and decide whether God indeed, has awaken him. And if you are a believer, you should also be a forgiver. May God bless and continue to watch over us. 1Peace2 out.

Hello Memphis,
I was just wondering if there are any educated people in the area that are in need of a job? I am a recent graduate of the University of Memphis. I received my Master's Degree in Professional Studies/Strategic Leadership, and I have not been able to find any jobs that are not warehouse positions. I am currently employed, and love the company that I work for. However, there is no room for growth and advancement, and I am looking for a company where I can use the education, I spent so much money paying for.
I just don't understand how the Mayor, Willie Herenton, can talk about all of the great things he has done for this city, but there are NO JOBS for educated people such as myself? What is the mayor doing to bring more executive level jobs to this city, so that he can retain highly qualified and motivated individuals as myself? I have begun to search in other cities for an executive level job, because I do have enough work experience to back up my degrees. Does the mayor care that he is quickly losing these individuals as citizens?? I own a home, that I will sell, if I find a position outside of this county, before one inside becomes available. And I PAY MY PROPERTY TAXES!!! So the city will surely lose that revenue not just from me, but from lots of other invididuals that just can't find a decent paying job here.

I am very disappointed in the Legal system of our state and country. There are rules that need to be tweaked that will not only help decrease crime rates of criminals, but also decrease the injustice that is being done by those who were sworn in to uphold the law. There are too many corrupt people in the legal system today. Not enough people willing to stand up for what is right. Justice should be granted no matter what side of the river you came from.

After 4 years of what I dealt with regarding my home, I had the chance to meet one person that had the power and ability to help me in my case. Steve Cohen. I had written about him so many times in my blog from what he did or didn't do for me and this was my first time going to meet him head on without the cameras.
I got up this morning at 5: 30 to make sure that I was not late or that the crowd would be so great that it would not let me in. I arrived at 7:21a and sat in the parking lot. It was hosted by the Delta's at Mt. Vernon church.
Steve Cohen got up and talked about the 50 some odd years he has been in congress and when he finished was about to leave. I walked up to him and told him my name. He said that he got my email and wanted to shake my hand, I told him no and begin to talk to him about his involvement in losing my home. We ended up outside in which he tried to explain that his office would never have told me anything wrong ( yeah right) I told him to just shut up as I vented 4 years of my life to him. Not seeking help but to let him know that I was on the other side of the tracks that is within his area that he refused to help. Steve was sweating like a there was no air anywhere as I laid my hurt on him. It was typical for him to deny that his office ever said anything to turn me away. then he turned around and said that he has no control over the judiciary ( liar). I am going to keep putting it out there because that is what our problem in Memphis. We want to turn the other way, deny that it is going on, and blame the other person. I guess that is what made Cohen a great person for Memphis. Memphis is no longer the we don't read believe what you say town. Our vote should reflect that. I guess It would have been different if I lived in Chickasas Gardens or I was middle income. I am the opposite so there was no need for him to protect my rights.
His thing was it was more a of judiciary than legistative. His office could have held a investigation into the judiciary which would have changed the out come. our community is hurting and we can not put a fair tale that it is not.
But now I can say what I say about Cohen because he does not like for his district to show unhappiness.

History has been made! Whether you are a Democrat or
Republican, Americans, regardless of race, creed or color should be proud of America.
Just a scant 144 years ago, Barak Obama would not even have had the opportunity
of citizenship, nor the right to vote, own property or freely pursue happiness.
Why? Because in all likelihood he would have been a slave in 1864. In 1865
slavery was abolished and the long journey of equal rights ensued. I am not
attempting to give a historical snap shot of the African American struggle for
equality, but I am excited about the opportunity for my children to see this
incredible event take place.
If only my dad, who passed away in 2001 at the age
of 76, could have witnessed this. It would have meant so much to him. However,
there are others, still alive that it means just as much to. Moreover, we all should pray that some sociopath won't make an
attempt on his life. I saw some video where some people were discussing
the subject of physically eliminating him from the race for the
presidency. Even with that, I still say, it is a great day for America.
Given the fact that gas prices are at an all-time high; the
murder rate is escalating exponentially; our school system is in turmoil and
our city officials are falling faster than the stock market, it is still a
great day in America.
Whether Barak Obama wins the election or not pales in comparison to him having
the distinct opportunity to be President of the United States of America. This entire race between Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton, to represent the Democrat Party in the presidential election has energized Americans as never before. In a
cauldron of catastrophe, an oasis of sanity still prevails. We have come a long
way, but we have so much farther to go. We cannot rest on the laurels of this
great accomplishment. We must press on toward the stratospheric heights of
morality and success.
But this one, is worthy of nostalgic notoriety. Forty Five years after The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his historic, "I Have A Dream", speech, August 28, 1963; On August 28, 2008, Barak Obama will accept the nomination for the presidency of the United States for the Democrat Party. As my
mother would say, “There must be a God somewhere”.

Personally do not think that it wouldl work, because in my openion you can not change what you think, or feel about a person, just because they won, and you could possibly run on the same ticket with them, we do not need any bickering, and fighting in the white house, we need who ever the American People elect, to get in Office, and work as hard as they possibly can to get our troops home, and do something about these high gas prices !! because that stimulus package just isn't going to cut the mustard, food prices are so much higher now than a couple of years ago, the cost of living is sky rocketing, and the pay just is not adaquate enough, we need to be very careful who we cast our votes for come election time !!

I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to be voting in the coming general election. I'm finally eligible to vote, and look how historic this election will be! Barack Obama versus John McCain, and the pressing questions are ahead of us:
Who will they pick as their running mates? McCain especially, since concerns about his age dictate that he pick someone capable of taking over for him in case his health fails while in office... and would Barack consider Hillary as VP? In that case, we'd have a black president and a woman for VP, a historic Democratic ticket.
Thanks to the Jones Soda Campaign Cola stunt, I'm left wondering "how does Barack Obama taste?" By which I mean, of course, not the man himself, but his "yes we can cola" from the Jones website. How do they decide what flavors represent the nominees? That had to be a really entertaining marketing meeting... "I'm thinking McCain should be blackberry." "No, no, he has to be vanilla creme." At least, I hope that's what they did.
And then, in local elections, we've still got 2 candidates for MCS (both of which former mayor Willie Herenton disapproves of, apparently) superintendent, and I'm entirely unsure who should get the nod. Fortunately, I don't have to have an opinion on the news, I just report it. Or that's what they tell me anyway: we report, you decide. Right?
Now that I finally have internet access, I'm getting to write bigger stories, with packages and vosots and everything! Just for practice, but it's still very exciting. The hardest thing about it is definitely trying to remember that unlike a web story or even a newspaper story, for broadcast media, you have to have a picture. Lots of pictures. All the time. To keep peoples' attention, the package has to be visually interesting, and brainstorming "okay, if I write this sentence, what can they show with it? Picture of a stuffed elephant? Car crash on Beale? What?" I'm not used to that yet, but I'll get there.
Okay, remember what I said last time about no black when out in the field? I think that goes for the newsroom too, at least right now. Our air conditioner is broken and it's really stuffy in here. I guess I should invest in some floaty sundresses or something.
