Traffic
Tom,
I love your reports in the morning. As a matter of fact, I don't leave the house until I have heard the last one for that time frame. But I have one request....
Please stop telling the rate of speed that cars are traveling if it's above the limit! If I were a policeman, I would wait for your report and head straight to that area if I hadn't made my quota for the month. Sometimes when traffic is moving along quite well, you will report that we are traveling 65-70 miles an hour. Well that's great, but the limit is 55. Thanks for the heads up, but please keep the rate of speed on the down low..unless it's BELOW the limit.
Thanks Good Buddy!

I have come up with a new word to describe the behavior of some drivers when it's raining outside. 'Rain-pidity' - the act of behaving irrationally while driving when it rains.
This word originates from the base word 'stupidity' and can be used anytime you don't want to call the behavior something that will get you in trouble if you were to say it out loud. Please feel free to alter this word for snow, sleet, or sunshine when necessary.
I will use the word in a sentence....I couldn't believe the rainpidity of some people this morning as I was trying to make it to work in one piece!

I want to extend a special thanks and offer a 'Job Well Done!' to the city and county school officials who made the decision to release school children early on Tuesday.
It may have been a little inconvenient for parents that day, but I believe it saved a lot of lives. There would have been 10 times as much traffic on the streets had the schools not let out as early as they did. I don't want to imagine what could have happened in the hard hit areas.
With all of the criticism that the school system officials receive these days, I want you to know that your decision was the right one and I certainly appreciate it.

Joey,
Snow! Snow! Snow! Snow!
Get with it Joey. We need to make snowmen or at least some snow babies! You keep teasing us with this sleet and water stuff. Put them together so I can stay home. Do you need me to chant or something?!

I must say, I have to withdraw my comments from an earlier blog where I disagreed with the use of these terms to describe the animals that are roaming our earth on two feet. I have heard some horrible stories and I can't say if this is the worse, but it is very near the top. Lowlifes, thugs....those terms are too nice for these creatures.
Please take a look at this story......

I have added a photo of the caskets on my profile...sorry didn't know how to paste it here. Hopefully it is available for viewing at the same time this blog is viewable.
I am just at a lost for more words on this one....for now.

OK, Ok,....
I know this is not a feature that folks will be standing in line to see, but if you can, please go see this one. My son, pictured on my blog with his wife and daughter, has about 10 seconds of fame in this one. The film is low budget, but has an inspiring story line(see below).
My son is a Kappa and they are stepping for about 15 seconds in this movie (about 1 hr and 5 min into the movie). If you look at his picture on my blog profile and then see the movie, you can tell which one he is. I am proud of him for his 10 seconds of fame, but I am more proud of his accomplishments. Before you think this is all he has done, let me share something with you. He was selected during Memphis in May in 1997, as one of the exchange students to travel to Morroco; He graduated valedictorian of his high school; He graduated from Howard University; He is a teacher in Fairfax, Va. public schools and is currently working on his PHD....and he is from Orange Mound! So when you use Orange Mound as a reference to relate to the negative, remember....something good can come from the Mound. And you ain't seen nothing yet! (I know...bad english, but good communication!)
The movie 'How She Move' is about Raya Green a seventeen-year-old, incredibly bright and full of promise. She attends a prestigious private school outside her tough, crime-ridden neighborhood. When a family tragedy leaves her family unable to pay her tuition, Raya is forced to return to the old community she so desperately wants to escape. She soon finds herself drawn into the world of underground dance competitions and smells an opportunity to win some money, get out of the neighborhood, help her family and return to her old school. But as the dance tournament unfolds, Raya realizes that real success only comes to those brave enough to tackle it on their own terms.
Just tell somebody if you can't go.............
