I am very concerned about this issue--- I think this was a horrible thing that happened but we cannot go on blaming this police officer's "self defense" on RACISM. As a community and as a country we have to move on from thinking everything is race related. This child had a toy gun (per his cousin that was with him) and the officer felt threatened and acted accordingly. We cannot take away the right of the police officer to protect themselves when they believe they are in danger. If you take the time to listen to this officer you can see and feel his remourse for the situation --- We have to be forgiving...
This family and their lawyers will not be happy until this officer and possibly the entire police department pay for this unfortunate event. They talk about how the investigation was done incorrectly (FOX INVESTIGATORS - please look into the proper procedures of an investigation done by the US Justice Department for violation of Civil Rights) but would this have been different if the US Department of Justice had used the exact same evidence and came to the conclusion that the officer was in the wrong? Would you come to the officer's aid and try to "make it right". I have to think NO but please prove me wrong. I feel we focus so much on race here that we are unable to come together long enough to find the truth.
Black People, stand up to your so called BLACK LEADERS!!! They only come to your "resure" when they think you have been done wrong by the "WHITE MAN". Please open your eyes and see that you have all the rights in the world and then some. Stop acting like victims. Your BLACK LEADERS are more interested in standing in front of a crowd talking about how you have been done wrong instead of working to lower the drop out rates, birth rates and welfare rates of "YOUR PEOPLE" and so many more issues. You have more rights than any other race in this country--- ACT LIKE IT!!! MLK paid with his life to give you EQUAL rights and you have even more than that. MAKE HIM PROUD!!!
I ask all that read this to PLEASE see beyond the race factor. We can all get along and live together but the more race is pushed in our faces the more we all put up taller and stronger walls from each other. That is not what we should be doing.
