It does not look like Obama is in office except to vote present. Like he showed up but forgot his homework. His distancing himself from committing himself to vote leads me to believe he does not want us to know how he would vote,or what his convictions are. I may not like everything McCain stands for but at least I know where he stands by looking at his voting record. He actively works at being a Senator. He puts the country first even if the press presents it as negative. McCain is already working for change. Obama is working on change too. One is working for a free America and the other a Socialistic America. So you see they are working now.

From what I can find on the internet:

Current U.S. President's Salary $400,000 a year.

Rank and File Members of the House and Senate
Salary $169,000 a year

Senate Leadership
Senate Majority Leader $188,000 a year
Senate Minority Leader $188,000 a year

House Leadership $217,000 a year
Majority Leader $188,000 a year
Minority Leader $188,000 a year

I find it hard to believe any of them are working for the average American whether they are Republicans or Democrats. By the way, my figures do not include the Federal Health and Retirement benefits they receieve.

Tom,
As clearly shown in the news lately Wall Street matters, Main Street is a passing secondary concern (if that).

Look at the election map, there's NY, California, Florida, Illinois...and the rest of the country. As the major cities go, so goes America. This is why we NYers are so d*mned arrogant. Washington has said we (at least when I lived in NYC) matter and pretty much responds when called (with rare exception).

Now living in Main Street America I notice that when it calls Washington no one answers, or you get voicemail.

Notice the Clintons love affair with the Big Apple, they know Hope, AR is only going to take you so far. If you want to be a player you have to get in the deep water.

In order for Main Street to matter it HAS to have chips on the table. This means building businesses that become vital to the functioning of the American lifeblood. FedEx is a start, IP.....somewhat.

The next Bill Gates is out there somewhere though, and if you're not actively fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and education for children then you can pretty much figure he won't be coming from here.

Most politicians agreed that the candidates presence were disruptive to the political process.
McCain's insistence on playing politics with the bailout pkg prove that theory

Nonnie
MCcain missed more days out of office than Obama. It awas reported by both fox and Cnn.

Voting PRESENT is just as good as calling in sick.

Integrity,
I wasn't talking about the bailout. The point I was trying to make was this... Both of these Senators (Candidates) have held office now for some time, they are both running on their "Records in office."
If in fact they are going to do such an awesome job in the Office of the President, I would guess that their combined presence in the past as Senators would have left us with no worries as Americans.
That in fact is not the case. If you have two supermen running for office and they are reduced to one superman...(which in my opinion they both claim to be...)Wouldn't that make your country less...Super?

If they are going to do such an awesome Job in Charge of this country as "President", I would atleast expect that they could have done a better job of keeping us out of trouble as Senators.

In short, that's my point.

Now see that's what i'm talking about. As I see it, either way we loose. All i've learned from the debates are how good they are at digging up dirt on each other and making promises that they surely WON'T keep.

I just find it hard to believe that they are "in it for me" or in it for your average American, when you look at their salaries. Be them Republican or Democrat, or Independent. I find it hard to believe they are here to serve us and not themselves.
I hope I am wrong, I would love to be proven wrong.

Peace

Cool, I saw the note. I don't ever delete anything, Love or hate what anyone says, I'm always curious as to what people have to say...it's their opinion whether I agree or disagree.... I just copied the blog, because I was curious as to where it would get more reaction. In the News Blog, or in the Political blog.

Interestingly enough, it got more hits over here.
