I got a chance to meet Congresswoman Jones at my home and at the Office of Nikki Tinker in July, 2008 during the Congress election. I was in aw of her spirit and just her. She was so down home that for a minute, I did not know she was that important.
Stephanie came to my home and at with me and my family. She gave me her card and I called her office a few time just to see how she was doing. I never knew that the last phone call would be my last. Stephanie stood for the rights of all and was quick to tell you what she thought. With the many encounters that I had with her, she was a true real person. She will be missed.
Emily's List

Emily's list is a strong endorsement for a person running for office in Memphis. This endorsement was awarded to Nikki Tinker. Steve Cohen is upset and has use the ignorance of Wendi Thomas ( another person who can 't cut it anywhere else) to try to degrade Nikki
Okay, now if these same people would have endorse Cohen then he would have been proud to say it in his ads, yet, this is the first time Emily's List has endorse a candidate instead of the person in office.
Steve Cohen is treating this by using ignorant people to say that it is wrong for a Black person to be successful. for a Black woman to be 37 years old and the VP in the legal department of a Major Airline, how many Black woman can we name in Memphis?
It is sad that when a Black person is running for Office and the Media dig up dirt saying they have bad credit, late on their bills, and been the bankruptcy court that it is standard for a person. Instead, Cohen is using her intelligence, and upstanding in the community to play into the minds of Blacks.
Wendi and Thaddeus we are smarter than that, we are not buying into that. You down grade your own race. that is because Wendi could not cut it in another state and her friend is just a fat hot air. Neither one can not be trusted.
We need to expect higher standards,,,,,, it is time for a change. It's Tinker Time!
Update: I sent Wendi an long overdue email telling her that she could not cut it in another city and had to crawl back her. It must have ticked her off because I also added that she was jealous because Nikki is beautiful and have a drive other than just being at one spot. her reply was:
Wow – with supporters like you,
Nikki will certainly go far. (This would be an example of sarcasm.)
Your grammar leaves a bit to be desired,
your facts are woefully incorrect (as to Steve’s time in office and why I
decided to return to Memphis)
– but I appreciate your passion. It’s misdirected and tinged with
bitterness, but at least you’re involved in the political process.
Best,
One thing I can say, as along as people buy newspapers she would have a job
For anyone that has a son or daughter or just for themselves.
During the ending of the school year my daughter lost her direction. We had begun to argue and could not agree. I was the mother who was tired of and possible hated. We did not see eye to eye and I was getting tired. She started to hang around people that wanted to hang out with the "so called" new friends. I was worried and the first time in my life, I could not say anything to make things better.
When I started to work with the Tinker for Congress I met a lot of inspiring teens who have achieved all the things that I wanted my daughter to achieve. I was afraid to approach her because with meetings these people because I did not think she would listen. Then God did a wonder, her car transmission gave out! She went to stay with the people she called her friends and told me she didn't need me. I did not say anything because this was something God had to work out and I took my hands off. Within 3 months her pride was broken and the friends faded away. The taxi was not longer there and she was left with me, my sister taking her to work.
God put it in my heart to talk to the teens that were her age to meet her and they were more than happy. I then called my daughter and told her about the teens. She wanted to meet them and she did. Within days the vision that I saw for my daughter wast there. She was around people who wanted something in life and did not want to use her, but just be her friend. She has been to a few Tinker events and the lady that I wanted to raise is coming out.
In all Nikki, her mom, and Nikki's manager has embraced her and is mentoring her to the person that I pray that she would become. We are talking now about her future and she understand her role in becoming an adult. Nikki help me save my child and I know God put her there for a reason.
I boast about Nikki on my site all the time and now I really really know why. What I see in Nikki my daughter sees it too and wakes up every morning going to help out. Nothing was promise but hope and that is what she needed. We really need leaders like her, to give our girls and teens hope that has been lost. Give parents hope to see that a role model don't have to play ball, but go to school and make it when the odds are not in there favor. This is something that we need to remember comes election time
Signed
A mother's prayer answered
June 21st it was time for you to get out your boogie shoes, the afro picks and the bell bottoms. Candidate Judge Floyd hosted a Disco fever at Brinson located at 341 Madison. Now I wanted my daughter to experience such a fundraiser and get to know the people that she one day will be electing into office.
What a night. dancing and just having a great time. In the 70's let just say that I was younger than I am now. I had on my disco shoes and boogie to it was time to go home.
he will be having again a new event
did I vote wrong for Janis?

History seems like it is repeating itself. Janis and Ophellia are acting the same. they were well until they got elected. Now the drinkng ( oops) I mean the medication is now kicking in. What is going on?
Janis has not been in office longer than a year and she is having issue with the driving to Tunica and their law enforcement. She must not think that it will not get back to Memphis.
I voted for Janis and now I am ready to rethink electing her back into office. She is bringing drama for yo' mama in city council. I wonder did I bring the wrong person into office?

After 4 years of what I dealt with regarding my home, I had the chance to meet one person that had the power and ability to help me in my case. Steve Cohen. I had written about him so many times in my blog from what he did or didn't do for me and this was my first time going to meet him head on without the cameras.
I got up this morning at 5: 30 to make sure that I was not late or that the crowd would be so great that it would not let me in. I arrived at 7:21a and sat in the parking lot. It was hosted by the Delta's at Mt. Vernon church.
Steve Cohen got up and talked about the 50 some odd years he has been in congress and when he finished was about to leave. I walked up to him and told him my name. He said that he got my email and wanted to shake my hand, I told him no and begin to talk to him about his involvement in losing my home. We ended up outside in which he tried to explain that his office would never have told me anything wrong ( yeah right) I told him to just shut up as I vented 4 years of my life to him. Not seeking help but to let him know that I was on the other side of the tracks that is within his area that he refused to help. Steve was sweating like a there was no air anywhere as I laid my hurt on him. It was typical for him to deny that his office ever said anything to turn me away. then he turned around and said that he has no control over the judiciary ( liar). I am going to keep putting it out there because that is what our problem in Memphis. We want to turn the other way, deny that it is going on, and blame the other person. I guess that is what made Cohen a great person for Memphis. Memphis is no longer the we don't read believe what you say town. Our vote should reflect that. I guess It would have been different if I lived in Chickasas Gardens or I was middle income. I am the opposite so there was no need for him to protect my rights.
His thing was it was more a of judiciary than legistative. His office could have held a investigation into the judiciary which would have changed the out come. our community is hurting and we can not put a fair tale that it is not.
But now I can say what I say about Cohen because he does not like for his district to show unhappiness.
It is about a Black woman and a White Man.... It is about a white man living in Midtown- v. Harbor town
WAIT A MINUTE--------
Can this race be about the better person? It is true that the record of the person will be judge and that we should consider this.
FACT
Thaddeuss Matthews is supporting Steve Cohen. It is on his blog and he is not ashame to state that. Okay we forgot that Thaddeus petitioned for Herrenton to be removed only to sell our signature for 2500. or more dollars. If Cohen is seeking his support, then what does that say about Cohen?
FACT
The Lottery is suppose to support Tennessee Students who wants to go to college. Yet, my nephew and a lot of other intelligent Black students still can not get it with a 4.0 grade point average. Infact is is for one year. Even if the grade point average was lowered would one of our children still be able to get part of that money?
FACT
Harold Ford, Jr, took the Army Depot and turned it into a business and jobs. He took the waste in that area. Nikki was a part of that, yet is not using Ford to build her own, she can do it with our support
FACT
Look at our community and say that you are satisfied with the way things are, if you are, then your standards are low. We need to take back our city and not just from the criminals that walk the street, but from anyone that will not allow us to live in some respect.
We need a change, we need help,.... simply put, Nikki we need you!

I reviewed the brief fox in black and white. Steve Cohen lives in mid town but ask him how many times he has been in south or southeast memphis? I think that the black people are listening and looking. Not at race but at the service. I am tired of any politician that gets into office and feels that they have conducted the public by service their own community. Cohen had done that. being in office a long time does not mean that you are a worthy candidate. it means you have been in office.
I am proud to say that I live in whitehaven and I have had the chance to speak with Nikki she is real. Joe Townes feels that if you have not been in office then you are not worthy of a position. I say, look at what Joe Townes has done and ask if he or Cohen is worthy? to me memphis is a big waste dump and we need people who are not looking to return but to want to make all , not half all of memphis a wonderful place to live.
by the way, harbor town is great and if she can afford to live there just then let her. she went to school for it. She also took her mother to China does that mean she is upper or just love for her mom. She has drive and a dream and I support her to the fullest

I am guilty just like so many of us about the election and the person that I voted for. I got a brief talk from a person running and I voted. I never really took the election serious nor knew what a person in that position really had the authority to do.
then I was thrust into a situation.
I have been learning and I want to tell you my own experience about Nikki ( if she don't mind)
Besides being a very brilliant attorney for Pinacle arline ( a part of Northwest). she is not just down to earth, but motivated. I have never had a candidate that you knew where her roots were. they say the fruit does not fall far from the tree. Her mother is very rooted and was a single parent.
I ask anyone that lives in Shelby County to look around. and ask yourself, has anything improved in the last two years. Since I have planted my self into finding out about our political system, Nikki and her team has taught me from day one. I am so bless for that. We have had so many people who have been in office and have done little or nothing. We have state lottery that if you are a scholar then you can get a grant. the average child grade point is 2.8 or 3.0. you have to have above that to get a great. I want my community back and if you are like me, then you will check out Nikki.
The election is August 7, 2008 and early voting is in July. Before you go and cast your vote I ask you to just go on Nikki's website or call her and find out the hope who is trying to change our community. I know I am pulling for the right person...
Let's support Nikki Tinker
Officer Friendly

When I was in elementary there was this police office that was named Officer Friendly. Strange that at the age that I am I could still remember that.
Officer Friendly came to the schools and talked to each class room one by one. Back then it was strangers that was the most important issue of the day. Today our children are facing things that we saw on television series or movies. Where is Officer Friendly.
I met an Officer when my son was going to Corry middle and he was this big heavy body builder. Man Officer Friendly did not look like that and he was talking tough. Me working in a jail, I found out that many of these adult were never treated like a child and were subject to things that I were not until I was grown ( thanks mom).
It seems like we think the hard way is the best, but many times the old way is always better. When Officer Friendly was there, children told on you with to the police. now they would be called snitching. I guess that is why I snitch today.
Trust has left the Memphis Police and Officer Friendly might have retired and moved to another city. Officer Friendly needs to return so that the words Protect and Serve will return as well.
Steve Cohen is proud to stand behind his 30 years of service in government. But I want to know what has he done for you and your community that he deserves our vote back to Congress?
He has been our Congressman since Jr. Left and I can tell you I have called his office and got nothing. the only thing that I can tie him to is the lottery that no one I know can get it. 30 years is a long time being in service and I think that a record should reflect that. He goes to the Black churches in gaining our support. again, what has he done. I have not seen one federal dollar to assist us. We still have problems with the Army Depot... I guess that is if he is elected.
People we need to get these old term people out of office who have done nothing but keep corruption and ignorance that we have settled for. we all know that Thaddeus Matthews in endorsing Cohen and Thaddeus was paid 2500.00 to sell us out for the Mayor, how much is Cohen paying?
Nikki says that we should hold the city to a higher standard and I agreed. We can not just settle for whatever and want better. We must make a change..... 30 years of service.....I have seen nothing... what have you seen in Cohen 30 years?

this Saturday @ 4230 Elvis Presley ( formally the Memphis Community Bank) NOON.
PLEASE COME OUT AND TALK TO HER ( I DID) AND SUPPORT HER......
I remember when Senator Ophellia Ford was very healthy. She and her attorneys raced to and fro court in her quest to take over the seat that was given up by her brother, John after his indictment.
Oh what a service that she was going to do and continue what her brother started in the legislator. Well, she did. He was a crook riding on the taxpayers funds and now, she has done the same. So she did not lie she upheld her mission.
Ms. Ford has missed more days in the house than any representative. When she is there, she brings back comedy in the politics with her drunken rants, falling off bar stools, and the ever popular missing shoes. With her slur talk she makes red buttons imitation of a drunk look like a rookie
Why can we not remove corruptions? Because as a city we continue to look at race instead of the character of the person. Did it matter if a person of another race is better than a black person? Or if a black person is better than another? We want our own race to be a master race of what does not exist. That is the master race instead of the human race. We are so consume of blaming a race that has failed when in all, it is us by voting pieces of mess like Senator Ford in office when a highly candidate could have done a job better. We can sit here and make reason and excuses for Ms. Ford but in reality we elected what many of us have in our family. A dysfunctional Alcoholic who only main purpose is to serve herself and support her habit.
No one wants to be the one to say it, but it is easy to think it. Senator Ford needs the truth since it is obvious her family is trying to downplay her illness. I have great compassion for Senator Ford because I do not know what issues drew her to this point. But my compassion can not blind me from her responsibility that she took under oath to uphold and that is representing the 9th district.
I wonder if her opponent is laughing and saying I told yall so or is he saying I hope this time the people will hear my voice and not make the same mistake 3 times in a row.
There is a batter going on about Attorney Niki Tinker and Senator Stephen Cohen for next year congress. I have to be blunt about things around here.
OUR CITY IS FULL OF CORRUPTION! PERIOD! We are dealing with a corrupt and blameful government, our politicians are in the news daily and with all this going on, we still think that our State Courts are without a crime.. THAT IS B#!*^ OR BS! We all would be a fool to believe that with all this going on that Senator Cohen is unaware of this. OMG!
We can not just look at one side and say that it is not grime or that is fair. Anything that is not monitored becomes a root for evil. When was the last time our Courts has a preying eye? Last year there were at least 4 protest outside of the Shelby County Courthouse and yet, not one media coverage. No this is not about a Black vote or a White vote, but a Right vote. I can not understand how many of our leaders are so quick to brag about what they have done and the results can not be clearly seen. The fact that the State Supreme Court talked about Judge Childress ruling should make anyone afraid to put their trust in our Chancery Court. WHERE ARE YOU SENATOR COHEN this is your state that has a judiciary problem and you are over the right? Rev. Jessie Jackson was down here speaking on predator lenders and with the outcry, our senator should hear the call. Senator Cohen is for the blacks only if you vote for him, Then he goes home and helps his own.
laws are only good if they are enforce by the government and the Judiciary system and must be applied equal and not on special preference. Why is everyone so quick to turn a deaf hear and a blind eye on the entire picture instead of the error in the picture? We were blinded by thinking that since he has been in office all these years that he is a great person. Cohen has found a way to use the African American votes to pay for his house, car, and lifestyle. I am so tired of our communities being sold out. We rallied behind Thaddeus for the rights to have the mayor removed. I was so impress that he stood for a cause and was not ashame to do so at the will of the people and in the weather as well. It was shattered when I found out that he sold that trust to the mayor for 26 hundred dollars for his endorsement. Now what makes you think that Cohen has not done the same thing?
I have contacted Senator's Cohen's office regarding our judiciary courts and even though he is on the FEDERAL HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE WHO OVERSEES THE STATE COURTS... his office has told me that their hands are tied. We need to free his hands and his seat and give it to someone who can handle our rights for justice.
Shut up Mr. President

President Bush tenure has been caused by numerous of Looking for Weapon of mass destruction. We took over Iraq that has made a bad problem worst. We are in a war we seem can not get out of. now he has took the focus off of one mistake ( one of many) and placed it on Iran. Sit down and Shut up Mr. President! We use to be a country that did not mess with anyone and didn't take no mess. September 11th happened and changed our lives. It also make the one on watch crazy. How we jumped from the greatest country in the free world to one of the most hated country in the world. What gives.
I can understand the alert, but before you try to go and make other countries obey, take care of your own. We have now become a bullie of others. This is last year for Bush and he is trying to go out in a bang and just like most people who have lost their minds, take as many as he can with him.
For the lives that are being taken ( young ones) who have not lived, never fathered children, or gotten married, we are fighting a war that we had no business doing. Yet, for those who knew that and still fight, I gotta have mad love for them. I think that we need to pin pal our troops and tell them that. I think I would. But anyway, and someone in congress needs to give Bush a bottle to play with until his term has ended.
