Little Known Heros of the Revolution
The Boston Massacre
March 5th 1770. The Boston Massacre....Crispus Attucks was not only the First American Martyr of the Revolution, he was also the Organizer and leader of the Crowd that confronted the British Soldiers at Boston that day. He was also the Formost in Resisting the British Soldiers and as a result the First one Killed.
In 1851 there was a Petition presented to the Massachusetts Legislature for the appropriation of Funds to build a Monument to the First American Martyr of the Revolution, Crispus Attucks. The Petition was denied.
On the 5th of March, 1776, Washington repaired to the intrenchments. "Remember," said he, "it is the 5th of March, and avenge the death of your brethren!"
The Battle of Bunker Hill
June 17th 1775, The Battle of Bunker Hill. Patriots after surronding the City of Boston, took up postions on the Charlestown Peninsula on top of Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill North of town across the Bay. During this battle between 1,500 American Patriots and 2,400 British Soliders took part. While the British did take both Hills they suffered Heavy losses. British casualties were about 1,150 killed and wounded, while the Patriots suffered 450 Killed and wounded.
But out of those who died 2 famous People were Killed in the Fighting. A Patriot named General Warren and a British Major of Marines Pitcarin. The Little known Hero is the Man who Killed Major Pitcarin was named Henry Hill. After the Battle he was was presented to General Washington for his heroic Fighting and the killing of the Major. In Pictures made of the Battle he was at First a Prominent Figure, but over time he has been forgotten and ingloriously left out.
Henry Hill also fought in the battles of Lexington, Brandywine, Monmouth, Princeton, and Yorktown. He died in Chilicothe, on the 12th of August, 1833, aged eighty years. He was buried with the honors of war and eventually forgotten to History.
Dorchester Heights
On March 4th, 1776 Boston. Washington received 59 Cannon from the Captured British fort of Ticondaroga. Overnight the Patriots Constructed Fortifications and installed the Cannon on the Heights overlooking Bristish occupied Boston. This move eventually led to the British evacutaion of Boston on March 17th, 1776. March 17 is celebrated as Evacuation Day in some Massachusetts communities.
But one Little known Hero is James Easton. James Easton, of Bridgewater, was one who participated in the erection of the fortifications on Dorchester Heights, under command of Washington. His talents were invaluable in the Construciton of the fortifications.
Mr. Easton was a manufacturing blacksmith, and his forge and nail factory, where were he also made edge tools and anchors, was extensively known, for its superiority of workmanship. Much of the iron work for the Tremont Theatre and Boston Marine Railway was executed under his supervision. Mr. Easton was self-educated. When a young man, stipulating for work, he always provided for chances of evening study. He was welcome to the business circles of Boston as a man of strict integrity, and the many who resorted to him for advice in complicated matters styled him "the Lawyer." His sons, Caleb, Joshua, Sylvanus, and Hosea, inherited his mechanical genius and mental ability.
Crossing of the Delaware
December 25th, 1776 Trenton. In a daring tactic, General Washington in the Dead of Winter decide to attack the town of Trenton. In the middle of the night and during a snow storm the Patriots crossed the Delaware River and then attacked the Hessian Mercenaries and British Troops occuping the Town. It was an absolute and complete Victory.
A Little known Hero was Oliver Cromwell. He enlisted in company commanded by Capt. Lowery, attached to the Second New Jersey Regiment, under the command of Col. Israel Shreve. He was at the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Monmouth, and Yorktown. Cromwell was brought up a farmer, having served his time with Thomas Hutchins, Esq., his maternal uncle. He was, for six years and nine months, under the immediate command of Washington, whom he loved affectionately. "His discharge "at the close of the war, was in Washington's own hand-writing, of which he was very proud, often speaking of it. He received, annually, ninety-six dollars pension. He lived a long and honorable life. He lost three sons and three daughters; had fourteen children who reached the age of maturity--seven sons and seven daughters. He saw his grand-children to the third generation. He was a man of strong natural powers--never chewed tobacco nor drank a glass of ardent spirit. He died, in the town of his birth, January 24th, 1853.
There is another little known Hero at the Crossing. Prince Whipple was a Body Guard to General Whipple of New Hampshire, who was an Aid to General Washington. In the Engraving done of the Night of December 25th 1776, Prince Whipple can be seen Proudly riding Horseback, next to General Washington and General Whipple. More Modern Artist's failed to add him to other renditions of that Glorious day.
Prince was beloved by all who knew him. He was the "Caleb Quotem" of Portsmouth, where. he died at the age of thirty-two, leaving a widow and children.
The Spy of Lafayette
One Little known hero is James Armistead Lafayette. James was a man who Volunteered his service to General Lafayette of the Continential Army. So impressed with this Man General Lafayette asked him to be a Spy. Upon agreeing to this task, he was able to get himself employed by the British General Cornwallis. Cornwallis was also so impressed by him that he in turn, asked him to spy for the British Army. So James Armistead started Feeding the British false information till the Surrender of General Cornwallis. So perfect was the Acting of James that not until Cornwallis met James in the Headquarters tent of General Lafayette, did his true identity and mission become known to him. James was so fond of General Lafayette that he took his last name as a sign of his loyalty and appreciation. The Service provided by James and the success of his mission was immeasurable to the success over Cornwallis.
Americans All..
What some of you may have already figured out is that not only are these American Heros. But they are American Heros that happen to be African American. The reason for not including this earlier, is because it matters little what the Color of their skin was. All that matters is that they are Heros, American Heros that fought for not only Our Liberty and Freedom, but their Liberty and the Freedom of Future Generations.
The Continential Army was so integrated by the end of the Revolutionary War, 1/4th of it was made up of African Americans. The United States would not see this kind of integration again for another 200 years.
These are not all of the Hero's of the American Revolution, there are many more of many different Races and Sexes. But the Fact that they Fought and many died for all of us.....is what matters.
They Were...........We Are..............Americans All...\

I Found out that the Congressional Ban on Drilling is Renewed every year. This Year Long Ban ends September 30th, 2008.
I originaly wrote Blog condeming the Democrats Strategy of ignoring the Vote on the Floor for ending the Ban now. I said that the Democrats were just waiting for the Sept 30th to roll around knowing that under these Conditions that it would not be renewed for another year. Then they could just say to their Base, it wasn't them, they didn't vote for it...they were forced to let the ban end by Oil Loving Politicians. Then after it lowered the Prices more...they would claim Credit..for doing nothing.
But then I realized, the Republicans are playing a little Political game as well. They know that the Ban ends September 30th. And that it probably won't have enough votes to renew the Ban. But yet they still made a "show" recently of staying at Congress Protesting the lack of an up or down vote by the Democrats. So they use it as an example that the Democrats don't care about you..... When in reality neither side cares ....they just insult or lack of Knowledge and figure we are too dumb to know the facts, all they had to do was wait till the end of September. So far only one Republican Politician has mentioned this to my knowledge.
So Both Parties are using this to their best advantage. I personally don't see why we shouldn't end the ban now. But to be fair.... it's all polotics. Sad that the representatives of the People are too busy playing games....to do the work of the People.
When will we elect adults to Congress.........instead of Politicians.......

Activists Slam DNC Arrest Facility
Compare Denver Warehouse Outfitted For Holding Convention Protestors To A "Gulag"
DENVER, Aug. 16, 2008
This warehouse will temporarily house those arrested for protesting at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. (KCNC)
(CBS/AP) The secret is out and for activists planning to protest at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, they are none too happy.
Authorities have set up a temporary jail facility to house those arrested during the convention - a city-owned warehouse on Denver's northeast side.
The jail is filled with chain-link cells that measure about five feet by five feet and have razor wire surrounding the top openings.
CBS Station KCNC made an unannounced visit to the temporary jail earlier this week. Their tape showed one sign on a wall reading, "Warning: Electric stun devices used in this facility."
Groups planning marches, concerts and other events during the Aug. 25-28 convention dub the center "Gitmo on the Platte," for the nearby South Platte River.
"Very reminiscent of a political prisoner camp or a concentration camp," was how Code Pink's Zoe Williams described the facility to KCNC correspondent Rock Sallinger.
On Friday a small group of people showed up outside the warehouse with signs complaining about the jail and how they compare it with history.
One sign called it a gulag.
The Denver sheriff's office, which operates city and county jails, insists anyone taken to the center will be there only a few hours while they're fingerprinted, issued a court date and released after posting bail. Others will be transferred to facilities designed for longer detentions.

What ever happened to Free Speech?
www.poedpatriot.blogspot.com
Extract from the Speech of Hon. CHARLES SUMNER, of Massachusetts, in reply to Senator Butler, of South Carolina, in the Senate of the United States, June, 28, 1854.
"Sir, slavery never flourished in Massachusetts; nor did it ever prevail there at any time, even in early colonial days, to such a degree as to be a distinctive feature in her powerful civilization. Her few slaves were merely for a term of years, or for life. If, in point of fact, their issue was, sometimes held in bondage, it was never by sanction, of any statute law of Colony or Commonwealth. (Lanesboro' vs. Westfield, 16 Mass., 73.) In all her annals, no person was ever born a slave on the soil of Massachusetts. This of itself is a response to, the imputation of the Senator.
"A benign and brilliant act of her Legislature, as, far back as 1646, shows her sensibility on this subject. A Boston ship had brought home two negroes, seized on the coast of Guinea. Thus spoke Massachusetts:--
" 'The General Court, conceiving themselves bound by the first opportunity to bear witness against the heinous and crying sin of man-stealing, also, to prescribe such timely redress for what is past, and such a law for the future as may sufficiently deter all those belonging to us to have to do in such vile and most odious conduct, justly abhorred of all good and just men, do order that the negro interpreter, with others unlawfully taken, be, by the first opportunity, at the charge of the country, for the present, sent to his native country of Guinea, and a letter with him of the indignation of the Court thereabout and justice thereof.' "
"The Colony that could issue this noble decree was inconsistent with itself, when it allowed its rocky face to be pressed by the footsteps of a single slave. But a righteous public opinion earnestly and constantly set its face against slavery. As early as 1701, a vote was entered upon the records of Boston to the following effect:--'The Representatives are desired to promote the encouraging the bringing of white servants, and to put a period to negroes being slaves.' Perhaps, in all history, this is the earliest testimony from any official body against negro slavery, and I thank God that it came from Boston, my native town. In 1705, a heavy duty was imposed upon every negro imported into the province; in 1712, the importation of Indians as servants or slaves was strictly forbidden, but the general subject of slavery attracted little attention till the beginning of the controversy which ended in the Revolution, when the rights of the blacks were blended by all true patriots with those of the whites. Sparing all unnecessary details, suffice it to say, that, as early as 1769, one of the courts of Massachusetts, anticipating, by several years, the renowned judgment in Somersett's case, established within its jurisdiction the principle of emancipation; and under its touch of magic power, changed a slave into a freeman. Similar decisions followed in other places."
An author, who signs himself "Old Style Freeman," says that "the contest commenced in 1761, in the town of Boston, in the old court-house, in the masterly speech of James Otis against the writs of assistance. He boldly asserted the rights, not only of the white, but of the black man . . . . Our colonial charters make no difference between black and white colonists.
"Massachusetts passed resolutions, in 1764, in which the rights of all the colonists were declared, without respect to mark or color, and James Otis, under the sanction of the House of Representatives, published his work on the Rights of the British Colonies, in which it was 'declared that all the colonists are, by the law of nature, 'freeborn, as, indeed, all men are, white or black; nor can any logical inference in aid of slavery,' said Otis, 'be drawn from a flat nose or a long or short face.' "

Why Fight for Liberty......

Why Fight for Liberty? Why take time out of Your Life to raise Your Voice against Tyranny? What reason is worth all the Time and Effort and if necessary, Blood to Stand in the Defense of Liberty?
Is it to rid ourselves of these Dishonest Politicians? No, for that is no Reason to stain the Land with Blood.....I Dislike these Wolves in Sheep's Clothing as much as anyone..but that alone is not worth war...
Is it to rid ourselves of Tyrannical Taxation? No...it is for something more substantial than our precious wallets....
What is it that a Man or Woman must Stand for Liberty, be it in Peaceful Protest or with Arms?
Is it for Our Rights? Our Rights that are Guaranteed in the Constitution?....Yes, but to stop there would be a Grave Injustice.
We must fight for the Liberty of All Mankind. For the Women,Children and Men who for themselves have no Voice.....Who can not Stand for themselves because their suffering is greater than Ours. For those that Oppose us and their Future Generations. So that there shall be No More Tyranny, at Home or Abroad. That a Few Tyrannical Men Can Not, Must Not, Dictate to Millions. So that wherever the Wind Blows or the Sun Shines People will have a say in who rules over them and by what laws they live. We Must Fight for the Rights given to us by Nature's God, for those Rights are Given to All, be them Friend or Foe. From the Poorest Drunk to the Wealthiest Businessman has the Right to Liberty......For this we Must Fight, For this we are Obligated to Fight....
We as the Nation of Freedom and Liberty have an Obligation to Ourselves, Our Children and to the World to Shine the Light of Liberty to All the Ends of the Earth....
THIS is what Our Founding Fathers Fought For........
For This Reason.....Liberty Must Survive...No Matter the Cost...
We Must Stand upon Our Rights, Not Upon the Force Of Arms........
But Let it Be known we Will Fight...with Words Peaceably...with Arms If Necessary...

I must apologize for my Blogs..for they are dull and I am preoccupied with the Possible begining of World War III. I hope I am wrong on that account...
When I saw the story on the News about Town and Country wanting to Ban Cell phones the First thing I thought was...gee they must be bored and are looking to make a little more money. I was also wondering when they were going to use the Accident of the Semi-Truck Driver as an excuse to destroy more Liberty. I didn't have to wait long.
But what I lest expected were the Comments I saw on the Blog about this subject. All but one were calling for the Ban and encouraging it for state wide use...
What Are You Thinking??? We can write all the laws in the world until all Freedom and Liberty are totally Destroyed But People will still DIE from mistakes made by People with a Lack of Common Sense. YOU CAN NOT REGULATE COMMON SENSE...YOU EITHER HAVE IT OR YOU DON'T.
Where do we Stop? Once it begins...were is the Line saying THIS FAR..NO FARTHER?
How many of you Drive tired? Should that be outlawed? How many of you listen to the Radio? Should we ban that? How about holding a Conversation with a person in the Car...Don't we ALL do that? Eating....nose picking....siteseeing...watching your Kids... billboards.... ARE WE ALL TOOO STUPID THAT WE HAVE TO BAN EVERYTHING?? Do you not have enough common sense to watch out for drivers that are unsafe? DO YOU REALLY THINK IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
People still die from drunk driving..it's illegal. People still Die from Speeding, it's Illegal. People Still die For Dumb reasons all the Time...BUT HOW DO YOU OUT LAW DUMB?
So we must decide..Are we a Nation of Freedoms and Liberties.....or are we too irresponsible to deserve such a Nation? Should we just raise the Hammer and Sycle now? Or Enjoy what Liberties we have knowing that now matter what.....we will NEVER be totaly safe...No matter what Laws are on the Books...
Do you Love Freedom...
Do You Value Liberty......
Or Do you think ..You know Better?
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." William Pitt in the House of Commons November 18, 1783
Stop the Maddness Now...
Before they get to a Liberty you hold Dear .....and the Crowd will be Cheering it's Destruction....

I tend to stay away from the subject of my personal Religious Beliefs..because they are personal. As far as you know I worship the Great Pumpkin as the All Knowing entity of the world....that is not important. This Blog also isn't about if the United States was formed as a Christian Nation or anything to do with that line of argument. This is a bit different.
I have been in debate recently with quite a few different people on the subject of Socialism and what it is.... after long thought and in depth research I have decided..it is a Religion.
Now, Now before you freak out lets read what the Definition of the Word is.......or as some would say what is...is
Definition of Religion:
1 a: the state of a religious b (1) The Service and Worship of God or a Supernatural(2) Commitment or devoition to religious faith or observance
2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3:archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness
4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
— re·li·gion·less adjective This is from online Webster..so don't blame me...I didn't write it.
Now the first 2 are obvious to the word religion but the last two #3,#4 really grab my attention.
Socialism is a Cause, Principle or System of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.(Ardor means a Feeling of strong eagerness.) I have yet to meet a Socialist that isn't giddy as a school girl about the Concept of Socialism and they almost always tend to have alot of Faith in a system. Even though they cannot name one single country in History that it has been successful in and/or has the True version of Socialism. They have Faith the System would work if properly installed, but no one has ever seen one properly done. They have Faith in something we can not see and have no real life example that everyone can agree on.. Kinda like Ghosts.
Socialism requires scrupulous conformity and conscientiousness. It requires the Citizens of the Socialist Group to give their Income and Property to the Whole for the Greater Good of all. If not, the Concept Fails and ceases to exist. No one is allowed not to care about the person standing next to them..they have no Choice....No Freedom.
Socialism fits #2 as well since it's beliefs are of a religious Nature. Socialism is a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices. Socialism is considered a system of Morals, those that subscribe to the Doctrine see themselves on a Higher Level and Selfless compared to those that subscibe to Personal Choice.
Now it will fit #1 as well, since the Government or Governing Body is seen in a God like fashion. Socialist believe that the government gave them their Freedoms and can take them away. They also trust the Government to mediate Justice in the Form of Equality in Life, Property and Income. Even though there is no proof of any Government of doing all three...ever.
Now the Definition of God according to webster is:
1capitalized : the supreme or ultimate reality: as a: the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe bChristian Science : the incorporeal divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit : infinite Mind
2: a being or object believed to have more than natural attributes and powers and to require human worship; specifically : one controlling a particular aspect or part of reality
3: a person or thing of supreme value
4: a powerful ruler Now I can see how Socialist can see the Government in this manner.....naturally not the Divine Part or maybe the Spirit part.
But #1(except the Christian part), #3 and #4 all pertain to the Views of Socialist and the Governing body that rules over them. The Government is the last and highest place to appeal and dictates judgment and Socialist Justice.
So I would have to say that since Socialists have a belief in something that cannot be seen and it has no tangable Proof of existance in the Pure Form they subscribe. Plus they have faith in their God in the form of Government that dictates over all. Plus they subscribe to a set of Morals and Principles in which they Guide their lives by. They Preach the "Gospel" to non believers and demand total devotion inside the Socialist Community. In a sense they are Religious Fanatics, they have no tolarence in the Socialist Community for any opposing Ideas, since for it to be True Socialism all must follow the teachings or the Community Fails.
As Professor Sam Mcfarland of the University of Western Kentucky said:
"If, by religion, we mean a framework of total devotion, especially one that involves an ideal future and an ideal role model(Jesus and Lenin), a framework that one follows unquestioningly, then certainly Communism meets that definition of religion."
Also as my Friend that was raised in Communist Yugoslavia told me:
"Communism is a pipe dream, it is not possible in reality. Socialism is Communism in Practice. So we were taught to Strive for Socialism as the Imperfect version of Communism."
If that is not a religion, I am not sure what is......
But to play Devil's Advocate...since it is a Religion..it can not be instated here in this Country since the Socialist Progessives subscribe to the Seperation of Church and State..... even though that phrase is no where in the Founding Documents of this Country...
But that is another Blog....

Monthly Budget Review
August 6th, 2008
CBO released the Monthly Budget Review today. CBO estimates that for the first 10 months of fiscal year 2008, the federal budget deficit was about $371 billion—$213 billion more than the deficit recorded over the same period in 2007. While revenues were about 1 percent lower than in the same period last year, outlays over the same period have grown by almost 9 percent. CBO estimates that the federal budget deficit for fiscal year 2008 will be in the vicinity of $400 billion, close to the amount we projected last March after accounting for proposed supplemental appropriations.
CBO estimates that a deficit of $102 billion was recorded for ythe month of July, about $65 billion more than recorded in July 2007; approximately $14 billion of that increase was due to rebate payments resulting from the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. Receipts were about $5 billion lower than those in July 2007; without the rebates, receipts would have been up by 2 percent. Outlays in July were $61 billion higher than in the same month last year; about $21 billion of that difference was the result of calendar-related shifts in the timing of certain payments. Another major factor contributing to the increase was the $15 billion disbursed in July 2008 by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to cover insured deposits at failed financial institutions; much of that cost should be recovered in the future as the FDIC liquidates the assets held by those institutions and collects higher insurance premiums.

Clinton's advice to beat Aids: stay faithful
Wednesday, 6 August 2008
GETTY
Clinon: called for a new emphasis on monogamy as a key element in the battle against Aids.
Bill Clinton made a plea yesterday for a new emphasis on monogamy as a key element in the battle against Aids.
The former US president, not noted for his ability to keep his own marriage vows, said it was very important to change people's attitudes to sex.
In an interview with the BBC recorded in Africa, Mr Clinton said that increasing support for monogamy was not just a problem for the continent worst hit by Aids but for the world.
"To pretend we can ever get hold of this without dealing with that – the idea of unprotected sexual relations with unlimited numbers of partners – I think would be naïve," he said.

I found this Ironic at the Abc News Website.....that this Article was Sponsered by the Same Company that the News loves to Complain about.....funny....
Also why do the Politicians insist on Seperating us into voting Blocks??
To read my Opinion on it...goto:
www.poedpatriot.blogspot.com
(During my Break I revamped my site and Will be posting more original Material on it.....)
I have just read an Article about how the Govenor of Illinois is Offering the National Guard to Fight Crime in Chicago. A few weeks ago I remember a Similiar Offer to St. Louis by some Politician. This Increase in the suggested miss use of the Military has me Concerned.
When a Country or State Directs the use of Military power against it's own Citizens it's wrong. The Military is not a scaple...... it is a Hammer. If the Police Department can not handle the situation then increase the Police Department or get a New Mayor. Just because there is an increase in Murders or Crime does not make it a War zone worthy of the Military. The Border is a Good place for the National Guard but no Politician wants to send them there. But a Crime infested neighborhood made up of Citizens of this Country seems to be a Good place for a TANK?
The Politicans are Showing signs of their Tyranical attitude to Weild their Power. They also show a Lack of understanding of the Constitution and the Protections it gives it's Citizens.
The Government is not the Answer to Everything! But when the Government is the Answer it Fails to respond.
I wish the Politicans realized what country they Lived in...and last time I looked it wasn't under the Flag of the Hammer and Sycle...at least not yet.
These are taken from the Director of the Congressional Budget Office's Report on the Rising Cost of Government Run HealthCare in the United States.
"The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that, without any changes in federal law, total spending on health care will rise from 16 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2007 to 25 percent in 2025 and 49 percent in 2082, and net federal spending on Medicare and Medicaid will rise from 4 percent of GDP to almost 20 percent over the same period.
Given the nature of the programs, a demographic shift will have similar effects on the costs of Social Security and of Medicare and Medicaid. In the next 10 to 20 years, the projected growth of spending in those programs differs but perhaps not all that dra-matically, which suggests that demographics account for a relatively large share of the increase during that period. Beyond that point, however, Social Security spending lev-els off as a share of GDP, while spending on Medicare and Medicaid is projected to grow much more rapidly. Some have interpreted that relative dominance of cost growth per beneficiary in influencing our fiscal future as an excuse for not addressing the higher costs associated with an aging population. That reasoning makes little sense to me; it is a non sequitur. To say that problem A is bigger than problem B is not to say that problem B does not exist or should not be addressed."
So what he is saying for the Current Programs to Continue they are Going to need more.......Taxes. Projected to consume almost 50% of the GDP by 2082.....25% in 2025.....what in the Hell are we Doing to our Children??? They will not be able to make a Living in 100 years and will be Forced to rely on the Government for Everything.....
