Tyreke Evans dropped 23 points Saturday night in the Jordan Brand Classic at Madison Square Garden.   He definitely looks athletic but honestly, I hate those all-star games!   It's so tough to get a read on a kid because everyone is trying to look like a Globe Trotter!   It's a little annoying.   Again, I do think he looks athletic but I wasn't necessarily impressed with his ball-handling skills.   He seems like a scorer; he kept driving to the bucket.   I'm anxious to see how he makes his other teammates look.   He had a heck of a pass to Devin Ebanks on the first play of the game!   I'm sure Tiger fans could get use to that duo!  =)

I'd like to know what you think about Tyreke Evans!   We sure weren't disappointed with Derrick Rose, were we?!

Tyreke is a baller. I agree with you in that he is less pure point than Rose. But he handle the rock ai'ight. Rose didn't gun enough for me. Rose didn't look 100% right to me, until the tournament. Then he started looking like a big Isiah Thomas or Gary Peyton in his prime. Tyreke got some Iversonisms in him. I like him. If he can be a playmaker & make his teammates better, we can go far with him next year.

But with CDR gone, I'm not sure if we are a final four team next year.

what do you think?

Losing CDR is a BIG hit to the team, you're right crony_capitalist, but if Tyreke is a big scorer and a "mix" (not every one) of several other things happen, I think the Tigers are Final 4-bound:

1. If Antonio Anderson steps up and takes control of this team. It's his team next year and if he improves his shot, huge bonus for the Tigers!
2. If Devin Ebanks comes to Memphis, OH MY GOODNESS!
3. Robert Dozier and Shawn Taggart have the length and athletic abilities to be unstoppable. However, I think Rob-D needs to be more aggressive and Taggart needs to play smarter ball.
4. Willie Kemp-Coach Cal's favorite player back in the saddle as starting point-it was Willie's starting spot the year before-but Derrick Rose has lifted the bar! I think Kemp definitely needs talent around him to make him more comfortable.

It's always exciting to see who steps up after a couple of all-stars leave. The neat thing I'm thinking if I'm one of these players is, "It could be me!"

You should go apply for assistant coach. I don't think I disagree with you anywhere. Yeah. Like you I am interested in seeing who steps up. The starting point guard scramble will be interesting to watch. I wish I had access to the practices in order to see the game of "cut-throat" develop. Some of these incoming freshmen are definitely capable of keeping some of the returning players on the bench. I'd love to see that "hustle" for playing time hash out. But damn. I'm just a fan with no access. I love to see athletes at practice, no cameras, just opportunism and their competitive spirits. .sometimes it gets ugly and darwinian.

But yeah, you are giving me hope, elevating my optimism, reminding me that with chemistry we could go back, because the talent is there.

I guess the only thing I would add is some extra free throw drills, just to remove the hack-a-shaq strategy from the oppositions defense. If I was Cal, I'd work them brothers out, and then at the end of practice make them shoot a 100 freebies each.

Dang Kristin!
I just saw the " Cal encourages Anderson & Dozier to enter NBA" video on the site. If they go that kind of puts a wrinkle in all your fine analysis. It definitely shoots down beautiful point #1 & beautiful point #3.

Cal is going to be down to walk ons & the B-team in a minute. If them bruh's "explore" the NBA they better not get an agent, because (I could be wrong), but I don't think they are done baking yet. I think the NBA is going to tell Rob D the exact same thing you said in #3, and, eat a sandwich and pump iron to add. The extra year will enhance their stock and abilities, I think. If I were them, I'd just bask in the spotlight (it's theirs) on a pretty decent college team for one year. But ain't nobody waving seven figures in my face either?

Eat a sandwich! haha I wish someone would tell me I needed to eat a sandwich! LOL. Don't worry, Rob D and Antonio will be back. Cal says he just wants them to test the waters and get an idea of what they can work on to make sure they get drafted in the future! It'll be ok, crony_capitalist! It'll be ok! =)

Well, uh. Since you mentioned it Kristin. You can afford to eat a sandwich too. It's okay. Break the strict diet. Quiet the little runner &, the little conditioning coach inside. Give it some mayonnaise & cheese.

Judging by the television, you look fit. So I'm sure your sandwich will be whole grain bread, lean cut meat, low calorie spread, and plenty of water rich vegetables. Basically a salad sandwich. A vegetarian sub, but that's okay. I just want to disabuse you of the notion that something about your figure, your temple is out of proportion.

I can't imagine that there is some prick coach / boss / boyfriend, in your life giving you disapproving looks, at mealtime telling you "you know Kristin, you should push away from the the table."

I know it's you. So. Eat a sandwich. The situation is not as bad as you think. The inner critic is a liar. he/she it has probably got you doing extra sets & slugging extra laps for nothing. You are as we say around here. FWINE. End of intervention.

I'm from Missouri, so naturally I cheer for the St. Louis Cardinals. I'm also a Mizzou fan but I went to college at Mississippi State. Yes, I bleed Maroon and White! I love sports and love my job as a sports anchor/reporter. My favorite two athletes of all-time are Michael Jordan and Flo-Jo. I also enjoy eating. I grew up on a beef farm, so I'm very picky about my red meat!
