This is a 'heads up' for all baseball and Nascar fans planning on watching games all day on Fox13:  we've got a patch of serious weather headed this way.  Possible supercells, possible tornadoes (some may be long-lived, on the ground tornadoes).

The potential is VERY HIGH.  Because of this, your dedicated FOX13 Weather Team has been watching the skies closely since Friday night, and will most likely be breaking into programming periodically to bring you up to speed.

THAT'S WHAT 'NO HYPE' WEATHER MEANS.

"No Hype" DOS mean we will bring you exactly what you need to know.

"No Hype" DOES NOT mean we're going to ignore the weather, and never break into programming.

It's our responsibility to keep all viewers in the FOX13 area apprised, up to date, and informed.

I still get e-mails, whenever we have to jump into programming, that say:  "I thought y'all were No Hype!  What's the deal?"

The answer:  No Hype means concise, pertinent, effective information.  But that information still has to be shared...ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE'S A TORNADO WARNING.

Given the recent events of Tornado devastation in both Earle, AR and Tupelo, MS, emotions are high and good people are scared.

So elevate your caution, keep your eyes open, and know that we're right here with you.

NASCAR fan here Joey, Job well done.

Some NASCAR fans might had been at your station with pitch forks, and burning torches if the race was interrupted throughout the whole race.LOLOL

But even grown ups can be so dumb when it comes to safety.

Thanks, Sonny.

I'm a NASCAR fan too (fell into the sport about 3 years ago, and continue to be amazed by what they do), and wanted to see the race.

Most people don't know this, but our "No Hype" policy is now being copied at tv stations from coast to coast. Our goal is to break into programming only when we feel it's absolutely necessary, and to provide a continuous stream of current warnings and information across the bottom of your screen.

You'll think this is funny: while our phones didn't "ring off the hook" here at the station, there were (of course) some people who were upset that we would 'break into their race' at all (which, of course, we have to do). But, amazingly many of the callers were upset because 'we weren't breaking in enough'! Danged if you do, danged if you don't!

We're proud of our coverage. We're committed to the safety of every mid-southerner who does us the honor of watching. And we will scrutinize every storm until the last raindrop has left the viewing area. The 'No Hype' approach really works.

Thanks for the comments.

Well done guys, I am also a nascar fan but I would rather be a living fan then an expired one, besides my stupid satelite always goes out during these storms and I live to far out to get cable. I had to settle on a good book and the radio to keep me updated.(Hint you need to get on one of the local radio stations Joey!)

Thanks, Fly!

We do need a radio tie-in (which we've been working on for more than a year, believe it or not). Hopefully, that will happen in our lifetime.

And your note couldn't have come at a more opportune time: I was JUST thinking about switching from Comcast to Dish Network. May need to re-think.

Thanks for writing.
