A  Ten year old boy, died hours after getting out of a swimming pool on 06/05/08 in Goose Creek S.C. Johnny Jackson walked back home after swimming along with his mother, and sister, his mother said that she carried him home after he soiled himself in

the pool, she bathed him and he went to sleep, Jackson said that she later went over to his bed to check on him , and she discovered to her horror that he had a thick foamy substance all over his face, and after checking his eyes she called for and emergency

agency to come , and they transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, they could not revive him, and the cause of death was dry drowning ! i had never

heard of such a thing,  the signs that we should be aware of when Children have been in water are as follows, # 1 difficulty in breathing , #2 Extreme Tiredness # 3 and change in

Their normal behavior, this  is the result of a reduction of  Oxygen flow to the brain, another sign to watch for is difficulty in walking,

According to the Center For Disease Control 3,600 people Drowned in 2005 , this can occur up to 24 hours after a small amount of water has entered their lungs, (-Dry- drowning-) they stated that this can even happen to Children that has taken a bath and water accidently enter their Lungs.(-there are no statistics for 2006 & 2007-)

his mother stated that this was Johnny 's first time going for a swim, and tragically it would be his last i thought that i would share this with the blog world maybe it just might save a valuable life, if only Mrs. Jackson had known this, her son would not have died !!

I had just read this, too. Thank you for the post. Another reason Memphis needs to get trained life guards to the city pools and get those pools open so kids won't be climbing over the fences to swim unattended. Then the parents can keep a close eye on them--or should--after swimming, just for this very reason.

I SO MUCH AGREE WITH THAT ! BECAUSE IT IS SO
UNFORTUNATE FOR KIDS TO LOOSE THEIR LIFE JUST
BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SWIM, THEY NEED QUALIFIED
LIFE GUARDS WATCHING OVER THEM, BECAUSE THAT DRY DROWNING THING JUST
SCARES THE HECK OUT OF ME !

They also need someone watching several hours after swimming. This is where the symptoms occur and need to be noticed--the mental changes, any difficulty breathing, unusual physical happenings (the incontinence), extreme tiredness. With some children, after a day at the pool, these would not seem that unusual anyway. If a kid is swimming and shouting while swimming and seems to gulp in alot of pool water or gets choked in the pool alot, that's another cue to be watching closer when you get home. That is the case with my 7 year old. He thinks he has to shout loud enough to be heard in the next county while he is swimming. This old mama watches him like a hawk anyway. I used to life guard; and I am a nurse. So you know I'm going to be vigilant!!!!

I saw this on the M and J show this past week. Really makes you think when your kids coughs more than normal.

I have learned a lot from the M and J show.

Thanks for your kindness Godsmiracle. I can take no credit. I'm a mean old --as one person called me--crock face, lol, who is like a mama bear or worse when it comes to my kids, or anybody else's for that matter. I'll just wade in and start swinging if I can. My nieces and nephews call me the OX. Let them. They don't give me any problem, either.
This mother is the one who is under God's grace and mercy and needs comfort and prayer. It reminds me of SIDS. Who on earth would think that one would kiss your baby good night and find that baby dead in the morning? God bless the ones who have. Let us who have not be thankful for our little ones, even if they are grown.

I know the pain of Sids, my third Grand son, died over night from Sids, it was my oldest daughters second son, she and her husband was
devastated, they were visiting from the military, and went to my mom's house in
Arkansas for the week-end, also his home-town
and that was my frantic call on a Sunday morning that he was found dead that morning, the pain was just unbearable for us all!!
