Tom I need your help! Every morning I pass a school bus on my way to work, the road I travel is divided (Church rd to I-55). So if I pass the bus going in the opposite direction while it is stopped, markers and red lights on, do I stop as well? My wife is a Desoto county teacher and she asked some of her bus drivers and she got conflicting answers, when it comes to divded roads.
This would be a great topic to talk about on "Drive, Don't Drive'" since I have watched some people stop and others not, so obviously I am not the only one confused, thanks Tom!

As of late I have noticed alot more people riding bicyles to work. Personally I think this is great, but if you believe you have the right to share the road with automobiles then why don't you feel that have to obey the law? Case in point everyday that I leave work I see the same person riding down Madison. He rides in the center of the lane, signals when he plans a turn, and runs every red light he comes to.
I try to be as safe around bicyclist as I can, but if you are going to ride you must do the same in return and remember that you also must obey the rules of the road.

This morning as I was preparing for the daily grind, I hear Tom Dees on fox start his segment with "This blog comes from Flymarines" I look up, and hear him call me out on the whole running my truck on empty thing. My wife, who knows I blog on fox but doesn't know my screen name starts pointing and saying that's you, I know it is!
What was I going to say? Like Tom and his dead battery I had to suck it up and take a little of my own medicine. By the way Tom, I worked my way through college as a heavy equipment mechanic, so I know about the fuel pump burning up comment. Which my wife made sure and comment on as well. I guess I will have to try and break that habit.
Thanks buddy, =)
OK I love Memphis in May as much as the next guy but hey I work downtown and hated the whole Riverside closed one day and open the next.

OK I am the first to admit that I don't obey the posted speed limit. But really when is driving fast turn into driving to fast? I take I-55 from Desoto county onto Riverside drive every day and average 70-80 MPH, which usually is about the normal flow of traffic (OK maybe a little faster but not that much) but I am always amazed when a pack of 3-5 cars blows by me doing 90+. Again what does everyone else think, when and were is fast to fast?
Uninsured Memphis drivers

Why is it so many Memphis drivers don't have insurance???????????????????????
About 18 months ago my wife was in a head-on crash with a guy who not only ran the red light but also did not have a license or insurance. Then last night as I was going home some idiot decided that he was about miss his exit and without warning veered across two lanes to try and make the turn lane that I was currently in. The damage to my truck was not that bad, a small dent, and no one was hurt, but the thing that gets me is the first thing he said when he got out of his suv (which was missing 3 windows, a fender, and both taillights) was that he did not have insurance. Why not? In California if you are caught driving without insurance they tow your car, here they give you a ticket, and let you drive off. WHY?

What is wrong with people in the Memphis area (to include Desoto county). I am originally from Northern California where people truly drive like idiots, but I never saw children unrestrained in vehicles as I do here. And this transcends all races, I have seen both white and black children running around in the back seats of cars left and right, and just this morning I see a little girl riding on the center console of her fathers truck! Does he not realize that if she hits the dash it could break her neck? My son is always seat belted in to an approved car seat (he is only 7 months) and I would much rather hear himwhine and cry for the duration of my trip then to have to deal with silence of his death.
