But seriously. Good post Arkguy. Every year we have summertime tragedies in this area, and those of us who are: cautious, conscientious, responsible, sort of take it for granted that others are also using caution & common sense. It always surprises me when I hear of somebody locking an animal or child in a hot car, with the windows rolled up.

In northern climes in winter, people use the care you advise, to check on the elderly & people on the margins who may not be able to pay their heating bills reliably. It's good for the cold, and I think the care policy should be adopted by us in the "hot"

I think it is good to remind people to look out for others, who might be slipping, or who are in this area taking the summer heat as a joke, when we know that it can be a killer.
