I have not blogged in a while a long but I just wanted some feed back on this. I know I'm really jumping the gun on this one and it may not get many comments but here it is.
I say if atleast 50-75% of registered voters don't vote in the general election in Nov. have a do-over!!! I see on T.V. and hear on the radio if Sen. Clinton is not the Dem. nom. they will not vote and the same for Sen. Obama. Sen Mccain is in by default as far his part goes. Thats not the issue at hand my issue is with the ones that do not use his/her right to vote. Just like the election here in Memphis only what 33% of all registered voters voted!! We should have had a do-over in that election too..
Any and all feedback is welcome!!

The meet and greet was great! We sat and talked (no yelling/screaming) as some thought it might have been. If someone would have just walked by our table they would have seen a group of people who in their mind had know eachother for years. I really must say I enjoyed myself and really do think that the others did also. Maybe this could be the start of something great here in Memphis,if only to meet people outside our normal circles. I look forward to many more these events and maybe next time more will step outside the box and join in the fun.

Massachusetts could become the first state to make it illegal for parents to spank their children. Has it gotten this bad? Somewhere in The Bible and I'm para-phrasing spare the rod spoil the child. How bad is it now where a parent would have to maybe do jail time for spanking his/her child? For some children time-out just doesn't work! You have to lay down the law sometimes!! First it was the schools, now the homes what's next the hospitals when the doc taps a new born on the bottom??
Help me understand this one fellow bloggers? Guess I maybe could have posted this one under the political.

For the record I'm not an Ole Miss fan. I'm a college football fan. To me it was not fair for this man to lose his job after 3 yrs. To me I say give a coach a full 4 yrs before he gets the boot. Atleast allow his recruiting class to come in and see how the team performs. After 3 yrs most of his jr and sr are part of the first coach's recruits. But I guess it all goes back to who wins the games.
What do the other football fans think?

I have not figured out who will get my vote. But what if he does win again? Now what? Will all of the anti-Herenton people leave? Then what? My true question is if he is re-elected what will we ( people of memphis) do then?
Will there be another recall or say the machines were rigged? What if he is re-elected and the council is all anti-Herenton now how will that help the city? Just a few questions off the top of my head.

From the Jena 6 to the young lady who was raped and force to eat dog mess(black) to little girl who was raped and killed in W.VA (white) to Jasper TX (black) to Reggie D. in LA,you remember the guy pulled from his truck during the Rodney King roits(white) or even the young hispanic man who killed himself (jumped from a cruise ship)because of the gang raped (with a broomstick) by white teens. When will it end? We all know where it starts!! Racism is learned it is taught it is not something you are born with.
To me a crime is a crime!! We stero-type each other and hold on to past encounters. Just because I had one bad encounter with a white person I don't all white people are evil. And visa versa with a black person or Native American or hispanic I have a proble with THAT person not the entire race of people. To me its funny/strange that all races can work together,go to school together, even sit in the stands or at bars and watch our favorite teams play even blog. But on SUNDAYS we go our seperate ways. HMMMMM!!
For the ones who believe in Jesus and He died for our sins its odd that the can love Him who we have not seen but hate our brother (sister) who we see everyday? How can we expect Him to forgive us and we can't do the same? I didnt say FORGET I said forgive.
To me you remember thing to learn from them. I had to forgive my brother-in-law for MURDERING my lil sister and killing himself will I forget never but I had to forgive. For every white person that has done ill to me I forgave them did I forget Nope and visa versa goes for a black/yellow/green/purple persons I can forgive them but I forget what they did.
To quote Rodney "WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST.....GET ALONG?" When and where does it end?

Is it just me or are more people texting and driving? Talking and driving is bad enough the lack of focus is dangerous. But this texting and driving takes is to a whole NEW level!!! One has to take their eyes off the road to text on these new phones. And we ALL know it only takes a split second for a wreck to happen!! Who is with me on this?

Within the last week or so the temps have been a 100 degrees or more!! Why not test to see how prepared we are for a natural emergency. We could used a few MATA buses to go into those parts of town were people maybe didnt have and A/C. The buses would have been used to take people to these shelters that provided A/C and water. Most of the time I look on T.V. no matter that station these places were empty!! This would have been a great time to put a plan into action to get these people out these hot houses and into a cool place to rest. With that they would have atleast had a plan in action to see how getting the elderly and handicapped out of these hot zones if an earthquake or tornado were to happen. What is the use to having the centers open wasting man-power,time,water, and eletricty and noone is using them!!!
Just my thoughts!!

Blame has been placed. Names have been called. Threats have been made. Siut have been filed. This is not just about W.Memphis but all over how do we aviod this from happening again? Children and our young people are dying everyday its not about race now but saving our future!! Remember these will be the Dr.'s,police officers, and fireperson we have to call on once we get older. They have to live to make it that far first!! If they see us as "adults" acting up and out they will do the same!! Children emulate what they see and hear!! We have to start some where its already to far out of hand!! It has to STOP!!!! Or there will not be a future for us or them!!!

Have some people in W.Memphis forgot that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction? All it has to do is just happen one time or come close to happening and the results could be deadly. What if there is fire and the crews are scared to go out? Now someone dies or badly hurt they will want to blame them. They will not look at the persons behind the first attack on the fire personnel. Or even worst they ambush or attempt to ambush the police now you will have a few more officers with itchy trigger fingers. Now every routine traffic stop or encounter with an officer could and may get blow all out the box. If that young man died because of a bad choice by the officer then then Lord will punish him for it. But for people to make threats of ambush just makes things worst!!

I love my city!! Once I graduated from college I moved back. When I was coming up we had a few bad eggs in the bunch. But now the whole carton seems to be rotten and you have to look for the good ones. Gangs running wild, teenage parents, carjackings, killings police shooting children the list goes on and on. Where are the parents? And don't give the that BLEEP about single parent housing. My mother did a grand job with me. Me join a gang in my teens? Im in my early 30's and i would still be looking for my teeth!! Parents were parents and not the child's friend. My mother and I had some fun times but I always knew she was the parent. I would bet you a dollar to a doughnut hole she WOULD NOT ALLOW me to go out her door at 10 at night unless I was with an adult!! Who she trusted and that's if I did go. Me cut up in school? Good gravy!! She was the kind of parent that if i acted out in class and my teacher called and she had to miss a day from work. WHOOOO!!!! She would make sure I didn't do it again and this would be in front of the class. I never tested that side of her.
We have to get out of this cycle we are in. When the great grandmother is 39 the mother is 26 and the mother of a new baby is 13 who's raising who? It's easy to blame someone else for your short comings but look in the mirror. Its the system, its the teachers, the police, the preachers or my all time favorite its the white man. I had a guy tell me that once and me being the person I am I asked for the guys name. I have to shake my head when i do watch the news and lil johnny was shot and killed while breaking in somebody's home. And the family get on TV says "HE was a good boy never bother noone!!!" Well he was not the great of a kid if was breaking in houses. Remember the old saying when you point one finger you have three more pointed back at you. That makes it three times as worse as the issue you are pointing at.
Life is about choice!! The saying "Do as I say and not as I do" Is not working for this new generation.Parents mold their childern into the shapes theye want them to be. If it's a boy he must play a sport. Or a girl must be able to sing or dance or whatever. Parent need to stop pressuring these childern to grow up and get THEM out of the bad parts of town. I played football in high school, college and worked out with a few Pro teams. I played semi-pro football here in Memphis for 5 yrs. Not once did she ever put any pressure on me to SAVE the family. The only pressure I felt was when i didn't get the grades I was in her eyes able to make.
This just my way of thinking if you agree tell me if you don't tell me. When I'm blessed with my wife then child(ren) maybe I would look at things in a different light. Until then I will look at my mother and my grandparents and how they raised me and my will be raised in the same way. I didn't turn out too bad.
